What a delightful menagerie John! Though it appears some of your flock may have flown the coop and ended up across town Thanks beefjello, dang, I knew I could not trust those big honkers, seems they are a bunch of trouble makers and spreading rumors about another zoo across town. I'm betting one of em' has a thing going on for the beauty with the blues head and pink collar. You need keep an eye out for anyone trying something funny. Cheers, johnw

Very nice all of the collection. Like the zoo. P. S. I hope no animal's where hurt during the photography sessions. Hello accidentalrockhound, no worries regarding the animals, err, sorry, residents getting hurt. I had to sign a contract with each of them and my Zoo Master, a very sage martial arts specialist and expert in administration matters, has the contracts under lock and key. Yep, and just as you observed he travels around on a turtle. Cheers, johnw As Zoo Master, I can attest that no resident of the Zoo has been harmed during the recent photo ops.

This is the Zoo Masters wife................ go figure huh? It should come as no surprise to hear when she learned he was in an official Zoo photo op, we had to have one of her. Err...I am sorry, I thought I had finished the wife's photo op but she insisted on a full portrait...............here it is. BTW she is about 150 years younger than the Zoo Master. Bears and pigs are next.........

I got severely criticized for calling em' pigs. You are right however, the Zoo Master and his D.D.G (drop dead gorgeous) wife do a fine job of keeping all the Zoo residents in check, even the Hippos. But, as you might have guessed, the Zoo Master is the one who gets to clean out the stye. Cheers, johnw

And I am a tad sad we got teased with the magnificent stallion but then nothing. alikat218....If you remember I was only allowed to take a head shot as a, well, err, a sweetener, to tide things over. The twin pinto tang stallions plus the other tang horses were miffed that the White Stallion went first and things got a bit nasty. Anyway, here is the plan, today there is a heads up on the Hippo and the Bears. They are scheduled for a full photo op tomorrow. After that, it's full coverage on the White Stallion, followed by all the Tang Stallions and their colorful mares. After that the Rhinos have dibs on the schedule followed by the Pigmy Elephants. When you say........ "but then nothing".........err.......the Zoo Master wants me to gently remind you ............................ "you got pigs"................ Hope this helps, but please remember being a Zoo Keeper is a lot of work and there are two other projects that badly need my attention: "The Big Crazy," now in its 45th day of tumbling, and, "Big Crazy's Pastry Shop". My Avatar is doing the advanced advertising. Cheers, johnw

We are having some issues at the Zoo. Many of the residents are a bit cranky at having to wait their turn for the photo op and have wandered off. The Zoo Master and his wife, plus some of the other Zoo employees are doing their best to round them up. To day is an example. I had told everyone today's schedule was Bears and Hippo's but only three Bears and Mrs Hippo turned up. Her son and the rest of the bears are running all over the place. Never mind we will schedule a full photo op tomorrow. Here is Mrs Hippo and the Three Bears. If you like the Hippo, wait for the Rhino. When he struts his stuff at the Zoo, we play.......... "Hail to the Chief" Hope you are enjoying the journey as much as I am in providing the narrative. Cheers, johnw

Totally enjoying the parade . Your denizens are just like.......people! Hi Pat, If you only knew how true that is. Every rock has an interesting story to tell, if we but listen and then wonder in amazement at what we have just learned. I still have my pet rock from back in the day. His name is George. Go figure. How many people kept their pet rocks? Cheers, johnw

John i haven't commented on this post yet but your zoo is amazing and I love the commentary. Thanks for sharing! Hi miket, really, I appreciate the compliment. I too am having a lot of fun with the commentary and the Zoo was a great opportunity to tell its story. It provides another way of looking at things if some form of commentary goes along with the images. A lot of folks on this site provide really interesting back stories on where they found the rocks and what was involved in the processing and I think it just adds more to the appreciation we get when seeing the finished product. OK, back to the Zoo narrative, it helps if you are a story teller, and I am. What I understand is it's also a unique way of describing events. This is the definition of the style of communication. "Its a rare form of Third person in which the narrator is a character in the story. In this instance, is a point of view where the narrator knows all the thoughts, actions, and feelings of all characters and may move from character to character to show how each one contributes to the plot." The official definition of this communication style is titled "Third Person Omniscient" no kidding, look it up..........I should write a book. Follow up: this is how it is defined: "The third-person omniscient point of view is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story. ... As such, it's an excellent literary device to aid in character development ." What I have to say in my own defense is it comes naturally and according to my better half, is because I talk too much. She used another expression that I will not state here, but it begins with a B and ends with an S with "artist" added. The Zoo story continues and the characters, err, sorry, residents, get more wild. Cheers, johnw

This journey keeps getting more exciting. Ms Hippo is stunning. Had she recently returned from the dentist? Hi fernwood. Ms Hippo will be pleased to hear that. Sorry, but she has not been to the dentist in quite a while, no dentist I know of here in the USA would ever work on her teeth, particularly with a mouth that size. BTW, you think her teeth need work, wait until you see her sons teeth, yikes. Cheers, johnw
