Yellow Feather Turtles.. Boulder Opal Frogs.. Definitely worth the price of admission! Hi beefjellow, Mrs Turtle thanks you for the full description, being "Yellow Feather." We knew it was Jasper, but did not know the "Yellow Feather" part of it. She was purchased in Shanghai in 1991, waaa, 27 years ago. The appeal was just the size and overall rendition capturing a turtle in motion plus she had eyes. I Googled Yellow Feather Jasper and found there are some remarkable pieces out there, so thank you, thank you, thank you, for enlightening us. What is amazing when you do a micro zoom over the "Yellow Feather" images there are what do look like feathers in the material composition. Awesome, I appreciate what I have, even more. Cheers, johnw

Welcome all to the Zoo......... We are now ready to resume the show. Sorry for the delay folks, but we had some issues after feeding. The Turtles are a bit under the weather but are on their way, slowly. In the meantime the Hairs from the Bunny Section of the Zoo ran over ahead of the Tortoise and Turtle Group. Here they are: We had an issue when we showed the Bears, we forgot this little guy, he said he should have been included and now wants his own photo op. Could not say no. Yep, you guessed it, he's a Koala Bear. Weighs 4 oz.. measures 1.25 inches tall x 1"wide x 1" deep Material is Florite. This little guy scampered over and wants his picture taken. He says he is a Pug from the Qing Dynasty He is made from Tiger-Eye weighs 6 oz. is 3" long x 1.5 "wide x 2" high. Mrs Cow lumbered over from the Bovine Section sat down and said shoot me. The patch on her bottom is an official seal from the Chinese Antiquities that states she is a genuine antique, being over 200 years old. Material is brown mottled jade. She weighs 5 pounds, is 10" long x 4" wide x 4.5 " heigh We are here, finally. The Turtle and Tortoise Group have arrived. Err, well they were right behind me when I last looked. The head Matriarch of the Reptile Section of the Zoo weights 3.5# is, 7.5" long x 5.5" wide x 2.5" height. And the material is "Yellow Feather" Jasper. A big shout out to...' beefjello" for pointing that out to us. We knew it was Jasper, but the Yellow Feather was a nice surprise. Thanks, "beefjello." You are late, very late, where's the Big Blue Guy? Here I am..........now let's go.
OK. let's go. This next Resident came over from the Bovine Section, but he is disputing he is a Bovine. He says he is a Ram and does not belong with Cows. Next are the roving Temple Dogs that were bred exclusively to guard the Buddhist Temples in China. They are vicious. Each one is 5" long x 2 "wide x 4" high. They weigh 6 oz. each. Material is Mutton Fat Jade. We are now closing for the night and will let these Temple Dogs loose. Please arrive early tomorrow for the "Grand Finale" Err.........hang on..........we have been advised by the Zoo's "Star" he wants to leave you with a teaser......... Here he is: Now you can understand why when he struts his stuff at the Rhino compound we play "Hail to the Chief" over the Zoo's speaker system. Cheers, johnw

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boy's and Girl's here is the moment you have been waiting for, may we present the "Star of the Zoo" Mr. Rhino and his Boys........ Mr Rhino weights 5 pounds, is 10.25 " long x 2.5" wide x 5.75" heigh. The boys are 5" and 5.5 " long x 3" heigh 1.25 wide. The material in all case is Rhodonite. Maybe the little guys are Unakite. The Chinese artist who carved this Rhino clearly knew how to bring out of a solid piece of rock an image that is full of vitality, vigor and knew how to extract the Alpha Male attitude in a carving, while displaying an animal in motion. The piece came from Hong Kong, Kowloon Side. The elder is on the left and it the bigger of the two. He was decidedly carved by a different artist. They came from Shanghai The following pictures of Mr. Rhino contain no commentary at the express wish of the Star. He want's to strut his stuff. Key "Hail to the Chief."
Mr Rhino, will now be leaving the Grand Arena Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Rhino and his Two Boys...........................
Mr Rhino our Star........... There will be a brief intermission, we invite you to visit Big Crazy'x Pastry Shop and feast your eyes on the extreme delicacies he offers. He is on the Main Concourse Upper Level. Here are a few samples....... From left to right.... A Tart with Berry-Cherry and Custard fillings with a thin layer of white cream topped with chopped cherries and icing sugar. A plum dumpling pie covered in vanilla sauce and large pieces of chopped strawberries. A peach and date cobbler topped with peaches and honey glaze. On top, is a slice of vanilla and cream pie with a thin layer of raspberry, topped with wild berries. Each of these delicacies are family size offerings, being over 3 pounds each in weight and measuring 4"x 4"x 3" Errr..... Ladies and Gentlemen, the Zoo has had an incident and we ask that you all please now leave. It seems that one of our Aviary Section residents attacked a member of the Rabbit area and frightened a lot of the residents. Here is what happened: It was a near miss. One of our Temple Dogs passed by and the bird flew off. Yes, it was all very exciting..... Has everyone left? Being the case, then ................."BRING OUT THE DOGS".........the Guardians of the ZOO. Nobody messes with Temple Dogs.......... C'mon guy's, let's get outa here.........follow me! OK....... wait up,...........we're right behind you.............................................TBC The Zoo is now Closed. Cheers, johnw

Bowing to show respect to Mr. Rhino. They look more like Unakite to me. But, one never knows. I always though they were Rhodonite, but that said, the little guys could very well be Unakite. I am pretty sure Mr. Rhino is Rhodonite, at least that was what I was told when I bought the piece. Cheers, johnw
