It looks really cool knave! 70 hours is crazy work, and I remember how it is with little ones, no time for oneself with a regular work week!

Hello, Summer in Wisconsin is intense! All the same, I’d like to thank y’all for your patience with me. There is hope, I got started with the cabochon this evening. I would love to use this as a learning opportunity if I may. This is the flat preform. Australian jasper/quartz. Starting dome. Top view after doming side view after doming pencil for scale Just roughed it in tonight after work. Only the 80 wheel so far. Any changes or tips before I start sanding?
I just LOVE that stuff!! I have 2 slabs of it and have cut some gorgeous cabs. Yours is awesome, too!!

It came! The cab is beautiful knave! Thanks Miss Ooly for the jade cab. I have plans for both, hehe. NOTHING beats a box of rocks coming in the mail to brighten up one's day! At first, I was going to set aside most to start it over, but going through the box, every time I pulled out a slab that I had originally sent out, it was such a bummer! SO I'm thinking I'll have to slab/collect/purchase stuff to send out different rock, which may take me some time, and probably another come around of the Tucson gem and mineral show. If someone else would like to start a round sooner, feel free! It's great fun to see all the pictures and cabs and it's not too much to time to keep track of participants, forward addresses, and in the end you get (mostly) different rock then you send out at the beginning! Rock people are so generous, it tends to grow too, lol. Thanks again for everyone that joined in. Diana aka deedolce

deedolce I’m so glad the box arrived safely and on time. Thanks for the kind words, as a relative newbie I didn’t want to use up anything super high-end. Let me know how that Maligano treats you, I hear it can be tricky. I have a page full of cab options for that one, teehee. You rock Diana, that was fun!
