eep! I think I must have said something wrong? Aren't Fairburn's a rare form of prairie agates? I thought it meant it was a prairie agate with fortifications?

I never thought they were the same - as though a Fairburn was a "grown up" version of a prairie. I've wondered since I've started hounding whether a Prairie Agate could contain the Fairburn fortifications...essentially creating a Prairie Fairburn... kyoti - just poking fun...

Check out the definitions for the prairie versus fairburns in the lexicon of this site. Turns out Prairie agates are considered to be a jasper and not officially an agate. The photo collection is super too. snr.unl.edu/data/geologysoils/agates/

Pretty cool! I learned something new That makes sense about the Prairies since they are mostly opaque like Jaspers are.

The site has several major offerings. 1. A photographic collection of agates from all over the world with the ability to sort by geography (i.e. just Nebraska or just Chihuahua). 2. A lexicon of all somewhat officially proposed names (no they don't include things Joe Blow made up yesterday for his new rock). and 3. Info on Nebraska and midwestern geology. Its one of my go-to sites.

She’s a beaut! Weight and/or size? Not nearly big enough- about an inch long, half an inch wide. He was just laying there on the ground, looking up at me and begging for me to bring him home...

Apparently I'm just going where the "shy" one's hang out! LOL Another beauty Mike! They're all shy, Jason...you have to sneak up on them! It was a great day, I was able to go with two of my sons, my grandson and my daughter's boyfriend. We even brought her boyfriend back!
