I agree that it should be fun and my line of thought was it may increase participation and it also may be funner (yep its a word) to not know who's is who's. Personally the reason why I participate is because it pushes my skills. I havent been cabbing very long and as I go, IMO I get better and better. I look forward to these monthly challenges As far as more work if we make it anonymous, im not sure it would cause any...we already upload to the thread, so we would just change it to a DM instead I'm even willing to take on the contest if needed. Maybe Tommy a poll can be created for both questions Multiple votes and anonymous starting December? Thank you Ali for the discussion and the new ideas. I love your enthusiasm and the fact that you are always one of the first to jump in and support each new contest. Watching your personal progress over the last year has been amazing and I think that you have leveled up to complete badass with your current batcave cab . After reading jasoninsd's post just now it was was kind of like a light bulb finally clicked on in my head and I figured out what isn't sitting well with me about an anonymous contest. I think it would completely change the contest from the current "give it your best shot and get better," to more of a hard core skills challenge. I think the contest would have an entirely different feel and I personally would miss watching the progression. EricD also said it, but I wasn't paying enough attention... I will admit that I do this almost every month without really thinking about it and I think it is the "challenge" element that would get lost in an anonymous contest. The fact that at least two people who participate in the contest are creating their pieces primarily with a dremel blows my mind and I wonder if that level of participation would continue in a side by side comparison of stone cutting and polishing skill with no back story? As just a side note, I'm also not convinced that under the current format the voting results in a popularity contest. I can't remember a single contest where I thought the result was wrong or biased, nor have I seen any trends towards a certain person that can't be easily explained by the quality of the stones they enter or the photographs they take. What I see happening without fail is the top votes are given to truly beautiful stones that hit all the technical points. If anything, material choice and photographs posted have more to do with it than who made it or how experienced they are. This is why I introduced the side shot when I started running the contest earlier this year and I think it went a long way to towards a level playing field.

When I vote, I look for what best exemplifies the mandate for the month- first. I like to know if a cab is by a newbie. I might vote for it, simply because I know the difficulty that went into it. Or, that, maybe, that person's quality of work has significantly increased. A lot goes into my vote and some of it does depend on the person. And, I like hearing the back stories, too.
I admit, I have voted for myself - because if I didn't- no one else would. LOL! But, like Tommy, I can't remember anytime that I thought a single person had a popularity advantage.
Although it doesn't matter to me all that much, I'd prefer it stay as is. I can tell you guys that it is quite a bit of work to run contests and I'm sure Tommy doesn't need more work.

I see both sides of the issue but I'm leaning towards keeping it as is. I don't think I've ever seen anyone win because of a "popularity contest" and I love the back stories also. When I vote I vote for the cab that I like best overall, the one that makes me say WOW the loudest. Which I realize is a matter of personal taste. I don't know a lot about individual stones yet so I can't discern between each cab's difficulty to make. But I know what I like. 😁

I have participated twice, and hope to become a regular. I voted for my entries, so at least I got one vote. At this point, I don't expect to win, but someday... : )
I like complete anonymity, and the one vote option.

After reading the posts by jason12x12 and Tommy, I'm now in the leave it as it is camp. I'm allowed - it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, no?
Running the contest is a lot of work and I also like reading the back stories. I try to judge the cabs on the criteria regardless of who cabbed it. I'm hoping to get off my arse and start entering the contest myself just to make a little more work for Tommy.

I like reasoning the stories that go with the cabs, and prefer not have it be anonymous. I really don’t think a popularity contest is an issue here. I would like to be able to vote for more than one. Even with that option, I still would be unlikely to vote for my own, unless I really knocked it out of the park, which is unlikely. Since I made it, I’ll always know what the flaw is. The last two months, picking just one was very difficult — almost painful.

And the winner by a landslide is... @jadedvision! Congratulations! Your entry is a seriously gorgeous stone in every aspect - material, colors, composition, and craftsmanship and it it highly deserving of the honors. The only downside is now you have to mail yourself the rock box contest prize haha. Please have a look through the RTH Store and see if anything jumps out at you and let me know. Congrats again! Very well done.

Ah, so you figured out the secret to a win. Put up a nifty prize package for the winner, and you, too, can be a winner!
Just kidding, your work is so great, you don't need any extra help to win...

Winning a prize that I’m trying to give away, just my luck! Ah, it's just insurance. Like carrying an umbrella so it doesn't rain, jumper cables so you don't have battery problems. We all know people that carry them never need to use them for themselves. They get used on OTHER people's cars, lol.

Once I had finished the cab I was torn between entering or not because of my prize offering. I should have come up with a plan for finding a home for the prize in the event that I won. well I'm glad u decided to enter it bc cab like that deserves to be shown off!
