Here's my entry for the month. I murdered some dino bone. Not happy with it. As I've mentioned, symmetry really is my forte, but it seemed necessary for the contest. To top it off, my heart wasn't really in it, and it shows, but it's what I have, and I don't have time to fix it, or to make another. Luckily january is another month, and I'll try again. meanwhile, I'll submit to show, that even after 10 years, things don't always work out the way you envision. Thank you for saying so.

victor1941 I love your entry. In the last photo it appears to be domed more than in the side shot.

Fernwood, the cab is pretty much evenly low domed but there is some small variation on the edge. Part of this was due to the light reflection from lighter and darker areas of the stone and my desire to have a high contrast with the main focal point shell. This was a very tricky project because I would have lost the shell design with a higher dome curve. The red horn coral that is shown in a recent topic was much easier and allowed my selecting the dome I wanted versus what the shell dictated in this cab.

I found time to cut a cab for the contest! This wasn’t my first choice, but I had it ready and went with it after my first choice came off the dop during coarse grind. Blue Mountain jasper 20mm x 20mm x 5mm. I forgot to photo the slab before I trimmed out the cab, oops! This is just yummy!

Love seeing all the entries and the side stories. The vote is going to be extremely tough. So many great cabs.
