I've been wanting to contribute to this thread for some time and finally have gotten around to it! My humble submission. Taken wet under an Ott light. I think it is Arizona wood, but not certain. It is about 4 inches wide. I really like the red moss at the bottom and the dendrites alone the top. Petrified Wood by Shiny Objects, on Flickr

herb that's a beautiful piece! Looks like AZ wood to me, but I'm not an expert.

How rare do you think stinkingwater wood is at this point. In regards material left to dig? I’d be willing to bet there are still massive logs to be had. However… you’re not getting them without heavy equipment.

However… you’re not getting them without heavy equipment. There has to be a lot still buried but will never be found. would be nice to have some ground pentrating radar to check it out. All I really know that I will not dig there anymore! Body too old to be punished like that. I know where there are several standing logs that will stay in the ground.

I was going to take a photo of a slab to post today, but my picture taking table needs a bit of cleaning, so this what you get!

Some gorgeous wood here. This thread makes for a nice collection. Didn’t see any Hell’s Canyon herringbone petrified sequoia. I’ll have to post some pics. There’s a gorgeous piece just a few pics up from here that has the open pockets. Absolutely love that look and the Hell’s Canyon has a lot of it.

Hi woodman , here you go! I know Saturday is when you post a photo but this was my first chance to get some taken and posted as well. As mentioned above this is Hell's Canyon Petrified Sequoia wood. The first pic is 3 small/medium rough chunks. The rest of the pictures are slabs. The last pic is a handful of the previous pieces with a ruler to show scale. I tried to wipe these with a damp cloth but this material soaks up water so quickly that these are really mostly dry. I need a photo booth that I don't mind spraying a squirt bottle into! I fell in love with this material upon discovering it a decade or so ago. Unfortunately the dig site is now under water due to a dam being built on the Snake River along the Oregon/Idaho border. Also unfortunately, all of my digging for this material was done online as that dam was built way before my time! Real nice material! Rare maerial!
