I shaped two last night and I'm going to do at least one more before I toss them in the vibe and pick one...

Hmmm. I have a gold filled molar from a fossil (me) that might be big enough to cab. hahaha I have not collected many fossils, as they don't interest me as much as metals or crystals. Still, I think I have an idea if I can find where I put the rock/gem. Hint - it has a bug inside.

I have one done and waiting for some sun. Maybe I need to do some more in the meantime to choose the best one 🤔

Sorted through first box of slabs and found a couple more "ideas". 2 more boxes to go through today after I get my first shot and eat some lunch (oh and the wife wants to go for a hike as we actually have a nice day today). Also have 3 barrels to clean out and some saw work to do. Dang my weekend just got real busy.

Thank you very much! I wish the pictures showed how beautiful it really is. This particular slab came from the one and only Mr. Billy. One of these days, I'll have to post a picture of a chunk of rough I have

Fossilman reminded me that I got some ammonite from him a while back, so I think I'll finish and enter one of those. They make cool cabs.

Those are cool, can't wait to see what you come up with. I have one at home that one of my kids found and gave me, now I want to slice it up. Not for the contest, just to see what's inside... 😁

I don't know if I'm being contrarian, since dino bone was predicted to do well, or if it's because I've entered dino bone twice, and it really didn't do all that well either time... but I've decided to go another route: fossilized coronavirus: Preform: DSC_3825_Petoskey stone pre-form by Stephan T., on Flickr side-view: DSC_3835_Petoskey Stone cab, side view by Stephan T., on Flickr front-view: DSC_3843_Petoskey Stone tongue by Stephan T., on Flickr On second thought, maybe it's fossilized Hexagonaria parcarinita, aka Petoskey stone, aka Michigan's state rock.

Turritella Agate I had some tumbling rough and cut in down with tile attachment for my roto zip. Did the shaping with the angle grinder pads. 42.5 x 26 mm Getting a picture with out glare was a challenge. Dome 6.5 mm at the thickest and 3.5 mm on the ends tumbling rough DYI stone cab/ vertical flat lap 4 inch 50 - 3000 'grit' pads

Wow! Nicely done. Love the McGyver flat-lap, too. Very economical, I suspect, and it seems to work in your hands.

Ok, here's my entry, Indonesian Coral. Freeformed, dremeled, finished in a T-5 vibe. Pretty fun stuff to work with
