Here's a couple pictures from two slabs I cut yesterday. This little orb is about 6mm in diameter. It runs through both slabs, so it was over 16mm in length. I thought it was pretty cool because there's fortifications in the middle of this orb!! stephan I'm tagging you in particular on this one. Dude! Not only is there a fortification in the orb, but there’s an orb in the fortification in the orb. We’re talking fractal agate here. I wonder if there’s a fortification in the orb in the fortification in the orb…. Does that make it an orbiforbication? That last picture is awesome! It’s like the rock was such a fan of its own patterns it decided to frame them itself.

Lol in the last pic the orb looks like a egg over easy! LOL - It really does! Now I want a fried egg sandwich...lots of salt and pepper...with Miracle Whip! That's hilarious! I don't blame the rock for wanting to highlight this little spot! The tough part will be making a cab out of it...it is so small it really begs to be seen through a loupe or magnifying glass at least...

So, today I met up with miket, his son, and another friend of Mike's with his son. I had a great day spent hounding with some really great people! I didn't dig any nodules out like I have been. Mike made me feel nervous about doing it...so I didn't! LOL The first pic is a nodule Mike's friend found. The second pic is a rock that belongs to Mike. Pics 3-5 are ones I found today.

I made you nervous? You should see the hole Jason was crawling in, hammering the rocks inside...everyone else was nervous for him. Crazy.

Seems like a fun day in the sun to me! What kind of snake? Was the rock that belongs to Mike found while you guys were hounding yesterday? Great looking rock btw! Sounds like Jason just needs someone to hold onto his feet while he goes in for the nodules.

Sounds like Jason just needs someone to hold onto his feet while he goes in for the nodules. It was a big snake. I'm not 100% sure it was a rattler, but I'm not 100% that it wasn't. Apparently in South Dakota there are rattlesnakes that are evolving so that their tails don't rattle. It was piled up in the grass in front of a hole and went into the hole- I didn't see it's tail.
That particular Teepee was found by someone else that was with us. He cracked open a small nodule and that was inside. It's a beautiful one for sure and he traded me for one that I had found. The one that I found was nice but was more of a specimen piece than anything that I could work.
We thought about a rope...

We thought about a rope... Any snake is big enough if you don't know if the fangs hold poison or not! Maybe that holds true if it has fangs at all. A rope would work too... maybe someone could have lassoed the snake for some dinner.

Lol, I know, it was a suggested second use for the rope and a lame attempt at a joke. So, miket did you go home with some Teepee material on Monday too?

I made you nervous? You should see the hole Jason was crawling in, hammering the rocks inside...everyone else was nervous for him. Crazy. It really was a fun day. The temperature was just right! And yes, it was surprise that the wind was negligible! I think we all found some nice ones yesterdays...none of them were prize-winners, but still good ones! I think the coolest out of all of them was the one you traded for! Your being nervous FOR me made me nervous! LOL It wasn't "quite" this bad...but maybe close! LOL Seems like a fun day in the sun to me! What kind of snake? Was the rock that belongs to Mike found while you guys were hounding yesterday? Great looking rock btw! Sounds like Jason just needs someone to hold onto his feet while he goes in for the nodules. Mike got the only look at the snake...unless his son caught a glimpse as well. I think it looked like this: Yes, Eric found that amazing rock that Mike ended up with yesterday...at the first location we went to. They could hold my feet...but I'd just be nervous they'd try and tickle my toes while I was in there! LOL Seems like a fun day in the sun to me! What kind of snake? Here's a shot of some preforms I cut today. They'll be entering the lineup here in the next couple days. Definitely a colorful bunch this time.
