I beautiful agate and a wonderful formed cab. I guess the up side of cabbing on a flat lap is that the slow grinding speed gives you time to really perfect the dome. The proportions seem to be spot on, and I think you've figured out where you new photo studio needs to be... outside. Thank you my friend!  I do need to figure out a better spot outside...that way the dome isn't reflecting the garage roof! LOL oldschoolrocker - Gorgeous cab! It almost has the looks of some Laguna Lace I've been slabbing this last week...flat out beautiful! |

So I Thought for sure Id have plenty of options of material to choose from for this month. However, after lots of digging through slabs and scraps and rough I came up with just one piece of crazy lace to use. And after few minutes of working a cab of it I remembered how much I love the stuff and need to restock! So I forgot to take pic of slab or preform but I got the scraps from cutting out the preform. Hope that will do. Roughly 54mm x 16mm.    Another very nice cab! A lot of good ones this month. I don't always love that shape, but it works perfectly here. |

It seems that having restrictions or limitations imposed on us actually helps with creativity. That shape really did work well here, but it sounds like you might not have considered it but for having to overcome a limitation (cracks). So what seemed like a limitation actually narrowed and focused your creative eye, and you produced what might be a better cab than you would have made from a fracture free slab. This analogy can be applied to a lot of things in life. But if I want to go on a deep philosophical dive, I'll start a new post in the appropriate place. |
