Gold sheen is gorgeous! If you don't make jewelry, you can always use glue on bails. Some of them are real nice. Coasters would be nice, too. Yeah! I need to get on those though. The slabs of gold sheen are awesome when wet so they will probably can well. I've only cut one, but it came out ok. I love the sheen obsidians.

Not sure how I missed these until now.
I have some similar lepidolite from WY. It is deep purple and sparkles like no other. I can't believe it isn't a more popular material. What I picked up recently wasn't even that expensive.
The unadorned but precisely wrapped picture jasper looks masculine and quite appropriate for your son.
The Sonora Sunrise, however, wins the trophy. I can see why you like the material so much. Your cab is stunning. The shape, composition, and wrap all work together. It is among my favorites of all your beautiful cabs.

Yes, that WY lepidolite is very nice. I totally love it.
My son mentioned that I never gave him a pendant. I didn't think he would wear one, honestly. Now I know.
SS is definitely in my top 10. I get such satisfaction from it. I did some custom earrings once where the guy wanted them to be mirror cabs. I need to make some more of these. I'll post a pic in the next post.

I've finished off a bunch more presents and made I don't know how many earrings. I had to make the ear wires, which I hate doing, so I procrastinated as long as I could. I got them done, though. About 50 pair. My silver scrap pile just got smaller. I have plenty of head pins, too.
Maybe, I'll wait til I get the new phone camera to post some pix.

I hope your charged him a ton of money for those earrings! I like thoughtfully designed asymmetrical earrings where the left earring and the right earring are not the same shape. Symmetrical shape with a vertical mirror pattern is a very cool twist.

Symmetrical shape with a vertical mirror pattern is a very cool twist. I think they were 150.00 maybe a little more. He was really happy with them. They were for his wife.
TBH, I have a very hard time being asymmetrical. I get into a zen of architecture when I wrap. Half the fun and challenge is working something out. So, spontaneous and asymmetrical are not my forte. I can't do the "messy" wire wrapped look. I don't dislike it, I just have a hard time doing it. I did, however, make several birds nest pendants. Pic to follow.

Looks like a robin's egg. Larimar? Don't apologize for your architectural-like precision. That precision combined with artistic designs make your wraps stand out. Technical imprecision is a distraction. It's like misspelled words or poor punctuation in formal writing. I used to have the misimpression that good art just sort of flowed out of artists. (This is related to what I'll call the talent myth -- the idea that the people who are really good at something are those with the most inherent talent.) A few years ago I saw a great temporary exhibit at the Chicago Institute of Art. It included a few works from the museum's permanent collection along with a huge number of the "studies" (practice pieces) related to those works. One things was clear: many master artists practice a ton, thinking out and perfecting each element in advance. Often, the final product is anything but spontaneous, much less some free-wheeling explosion of artistic inspiration. In other words, good art is often a very deliberate process. It sounds like that is true of your wraps as well.

Yes, it is a larimar tumbled flat. (Not by me.)
Thanks for that. I'm truly humbled.

I've always loved that painting. Nice to see the sketch ups. Isn't it called the California School? I think another of my favorites is of the same style- Diebenkorn.
