This year, I'm gifting a lot of jewelry. I usually don't, believe it or not. I think they got sick of it after awhile, but now they are asking for it. I have a lot of wrapping to do.
This is for my oldest daughter who loves purple as much as I do. This is grape lepidolite from WY. I got this from hummingbirdstones . It's actually more purple and sparkly in person. The loops didn't work out evenly, so my bindings are off center, but I don't think it's real noticeable.
An Owyhee picture stone for my son.
Moroccan septarian for my younger daughter. When I cut this, she immediately said she wanted a pendant.
Sonora Sunrise for my niece.
Thanks for looking.

As elegant as always Tela! What in the world is keeping that Owyhee in place? How are you able to keep the stone set without the wires going over the face of the cab?

Thanks, Jason. If your cab is cut with the right angle and your wrap is tight. It doesn't take much to hold the stone in. It's good and set.

I've been trying to get my girdle (I still laugh calling it that!) set at 90 degrees to the back of the stone. I think I remember seeing somewhere that it's supposed to have a slight angle to it...which didn't make sense to me at the time so I haven't been doing it...but seeing how you wrapped this one, it totally makes sense as to why it's needed.

Yeah, wire wrappers can use 90 degree girdles, but silversmiths prefer the angle. That's what holds the stone in a setting.

I love the septarian. The wrap wire is the perfect color to compliment the stone.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Both elegant and magical in the way those stones seem to be held in place. For the Septarian, are those c-shaped wires clamping the stone between the front wire and a back wire? I can see some of the edge of the stone peeking through and the front wire is clearly one continuous wire on the front, but I am struggling to figure out how it is all held together without some wire wizardry going on.

Lots of people gonna be all happy this Christmas!
Beautiful pendants! I really like how you textured the wire on the septarian. Very cool!

It's wire wizardy. No, you are right. The frame is held together by the side wires.
Thanks!

Thanks, Robin. I'm gonna bust out all the pictures from my catalogue and try to do some things that I haven't done in a while- or try to come up with something new. Pretty soon, I'll have plenty of time to wrap.

Gold sheen is gorgeous! If you don't make jewelry, you can always use glue on bails. Some of them are real nice. Coasters would be nice, too.

The slabs of gold sheen are awesome when wet so they will probably can well.
