One big lapis to go... count down till Christmas. It's gonna be warm today, but with all the company coming I really, really need to mop, etc. Ugh. I'd rather be cabbing. If you let the first guest come in with their shoes on, you can just blame them for the floor! LOL Works every time! You're welcome. Now you can go cab! LOL

This was a giant PITA. Don't know why. I had to wrap this carefully because of the tip. I bought this gorgeous lapis, but the cut was a little too dangerous. It tapered at the tip quite a bit. Lots of pretty pyrite, though.

Nice one rockjunquie! I tried lapis and got a pretty zilch shine on everything but the pyrite. Mine had a lot of white in it.

Love the wrap, Tela, it goes perfectly with the stone! I especially like the way you did the wires on the bottom of the cab- I never would have thought of that (even though I wish I would have) and it looks great.

Zam, interesting. Mine barely shined Zam is good for soft stones like this and malachite. Use with a dremel and buff head. Even more reason to buy a Dremel. Maybe I'll get one for fun! I was interested in getting one anyway. I've got a little grinder I could put a buffing wheel on.

That switcharoo at the bottom is a nice twist! (Pun intended!) Glad you're done...for now!

Thanks! The criss cross on the bottom protects that thin sharp tip.

Thanks! The criss cross on the bottom protects that thin sharp tip. I've been making some cabs recently that have a VERY sharp tip to them. I wrapped one last week and it was a royal PITA. I think I need to start rounding them rather than leaving them SO sharp. I know I read awhile back a person should round those off (probably you who said it)...and now I know the reason why. LOL

LOL I don't mind sharp tips so much. It's when they dip down and taper too much that I worry. If I had wrapped this as I normally would do, I ran the risk of breaking the tip.
Having done a little silversmithing, I can tell you that rounding the tip a little is almost a necessity.

Another beautiful piece of art. Your settings somehow always manage to compliment the stone.
