Decided to dig up the driveway while the saw was running. Also from my driveway but months ago. Prettier than I expected! edit: realized that I should toss in an ID for this big guy. I just call it mudstone but it’s technically a meta sedimentary rock. This jaspery mudstone is one of my very common rocks on the property. They are always heavily fractured so not great material, but it’s fun to look at! This is the most colorful one I’ve cut so far.

Green one looks like Dilpikelite.

Green one looks like Dilpikelite. If only! Would probably be more useful 😆 I’ve learned my lesson about assumptions on weathered glacial material, so not even gonna guess until I open it up

Decided to dig this guy up today! The reddish color looks like my typical quartzite but the green isn’t normal. Was curious if the color goes all the way through so I tossed it in the saw. It’s green quartz with flakes in it, and sparkles a lot when I move it around, so aventurine? Looks like the red was just iron staining. Glad I finally collected this one!

I acquired a few pieces of rough. Obviously not self collected, just bought. The 5 cent piece is tad bigger than a US quarter First up, obsidian Now, this insisted as moss agate. The edges are translucent with varying levels of brightness Listef as ocean jasper. I dunno, with underlighting it looks similar to the agate
