I finally found a good one, I'm calling it the Unicorn. Big eyes on both sides
I think this is some kind of banded quartz

Technically finds from yesterday from a find last summer. Hauled home this lunker and set it in the yard, then yesterday chiseled off the top at that nasty fracture line and broke that piece up a little. Fractures everywhere so not sure what of it will be salvageable, but hoping for some small slices and if not at least a bunch of pieces to tumble. Was getting dark so the pics suck.

One of my bigger finds to take home in a while, these yellow greens usually tumble really well. Not huge on fossils, but this was a nice find. My feet are scorched from the hot sand 🔥

yohs Chad hot sand stroll & gneisser finds is the water still chilly? Water is real nice, a little nasty with all the life blooming everywhere, but you can swim around without wanting to get out
Lots of laughing, cussing and running when the sand gets like this. Only relief is 6 inches of shade from dune grass or burying your feet to your ankles for a few seconds to take the heat off.
Never wise enough to bring back up sandals

That's wild, I've only ever found them like this. Do you find yours on land then? Yep. We have ZERO water out here...other than lakes and rivers. I usually find them out at Railroad Buttes, SD. I do find Horn Coral out there sometimes as well. I've made some cabs from them before... forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/96733/syringopora-coral-fossil-couple-unknowns

realrockhound Do you know the ID on this? I'm pretty sure I have a couple pieces in the polish run right now that are of the same material. Wonderstone?
Edit: I saw jasoninsd post a page later who named it Wave Dolomite

Edit: I saw jasoninsd post a page later who named it Wave Dolomite I can't wait to see your stuff when it comes out of the tumbler! It looks like Wonderstone or Hickoryite on steroids...or acid...depending on who's describing it, I suppose! LOL

Found in a online auction group. The seller was someone I have purchased from in the past and local. Forgot the size reference, but the smaller one are just over Quarter sized. There are some nice patterns on these. He gave me some more to use for Sunday's workshop. Here are a few of those. I planned on bringing some LSA's along, but now there will be even more.

jasoninsd were your parents as excited as you were? LOL - NO! My mother was standing down by the A/C unit and I asked her to hand it to me. I showed her the pattern on it and told her what it was. She said, "Oh, do you want it?"

She said, "Oh, do you want it?" Kind of like when I was showing my daughter all the things I was finding on my new place. Her response was that when I was not there she would be throwing everything back in the fields, where it belonged. Then her husband looked at some of my finds. He confirmed some of my ID's. Yes, he eventually took all of the local college's geology courses and graduated, so he has a minor in that. Having a major in engineering, minor in geology, minor in something like family recreation. He took many other classes over the years. Is currently working as a designer and surveyor for a local firm that specializes in developing/renovating recreational facilities for cities and the government. Think State parks here. Since then my daughter is very supportive of my rock/fossil finds and jewelry/lapidary business.

tims I'm tagging you on this one... Nice, that was a good sized ammonite. I like how bright the suture lines are, looks like someone drew a cartoon forest with chalk.
