Didn't take a shine at all.
Threw a little oil on there to show what it could have been....
What do you think, same stuff?

Boy, the larger of the two pieces looks like "maybe" with regards to the pattern...but I'm pretty sure Wave Dolomite takes a good polish...

jasoninsdThat is the coolest thing ever!! I thought it was something carved into it by Indians or something lol! Had to look it up. Thatβs a super cool find especially finding it in a very unexpected place! Good thing your mom doesnβt like rocks as much as you do or you would have had to Rock Paper Scissors her for it!

One of my bigger finds to take home in a while, these yellow greens usually tumble really well. Not huge on fossils, but this was a nice find. My feet are scorched from the hot sand π₯ Nice foot! Β Itβs a man size foot to go with his man size lumber legs lol! Teasing Chad! Son Of Beach

Nah...I run faster than she can...it would have been mine regardless! LOL (Just kidding! LOL) I do find a lot of pieces like this "out in the wild" around here...but none of them have been as big or impressive as this one!

Nice finds! I've found the Porphyry up at my favorite lake hounding spot here in Washington. I like the rock in the first picture a lot.

A good piece of Porphyry is hard to pass up, this is probably my biggest good piece to date. I really like the first one too, I reminds me of a picture of a planet.

Haul from the weekend. Lots of slag glass, septarians, and some other nice finds. First time finding two pieces of banded chert in a day. Some kind of banded quartz...not sure what that big one will turn into.

Son Of BeachAt least 2 out of 3 times I tag you I miss spell it limberlegs!! I blame the i being next to the u on the keyboard. π€ͺ Anyhoo, nice rocks! Really like them all. Lake Michigan and Lake Superior rocks will always have a special place in my heart! I especially love the banded chert. Chert is my favorite and it doesnβt get better then banded chert! Looking forward to seeing them polished. Do you go straight in the vibe or do rotary first?

I go rotary on all but a handful, just personal preference.
Got some nice ones in the next batch

I think this is a big ole chunk of banded chert. I nearly passed it up when it was face down, the bands were on the bottom but the sharp edges said there might be something there. I spy a fish? A Buffalo?

That second rock looks like Shel Silverstein might have sketched a mouse on it, Son Of Beach.

hplcman Do you know what that might be? It has an awesome color My guess would be serpentine. There is a lot of serpentine in California! But serpentine is a 2.5 to 3 on the MOHS, and this stuff doesn't scratch with my Swiss Army knife... I think maybe it's green or blue jasper? I have no real idea what it is, all I know is it's hard and it polishes up well. I'll post picture of both these rocks after I tumble them!
