Hundreds of Meteorites can be found in the dirt at the bottom of your down spouts on your house !. Take a cup of the dirt below the downspout and mix it up in a glass of water. Place a magnet in the bottom of the glass while you stir up the dirt in the glass. When everything is loose rinse the dirt out of the glass and what you have left are all the micro meteorites that landed on the roof and washed down when it rained. If you have grandkids and a microscope you can keep them quiet and completly absorbed for most of an afternoon and not spend a fortune doing it.
Couldn't figure out how to add this to the right thread so here it is !

Hi everyone - Happy New Year! I'm curious if the movement looks ok to you all? It's better than it was (adjusted dowel and restarted my barrel - I think I had too much ceramic media) but I'm not sure it's moving enough. filled barrel with water, put in rocks and emptied water from barrel as indicated here and youtube then 2 tbls of 120/220...seems to start off good, but then tapers slightly

Running a rotary on your carpet , no one can say you don't have a sense of adventure. It is much quieter but I would suggest putting it in a tub also ! Maybe add a piece of carpet sanple under it in the tub so it doesent walk around plus cutting the noise !
Was away from my computer for a couple weeks (forgot to bring it) so I will post some photos as I get to them. From April thru August we spend 10 weeks along the SC Coast and the photos I'll be posting will be from there. I always rise about an hour or so before sunrise most days. This sunrise was taken about a week or so ago.
This crane was busy fishing for breakfast and had no problem with me getting close to him/her
Wildflowers
Mossy oaks
Pictured is a Snowy Eagret, they nest near my fishing shack on the Miss. River. NEVER , EVER walk under the nesting birds to get a GOOD picture because the young eagrets will VOMIT over the side of the nest as that is how they defend themselves ! Being covered with half digested fish and frog puke can be a VERY treumatic experience ! I had to drive the poor fool 117 miles home while he lay on a plastic sheet in the back of my station wagon with all the windows down and the tailgate open , eyes watering and retching every inch of the way !
Wow wish I saw this thread before purchasing one. I mean, I watched a bunch of youtube videos praising these units but if I had known the bad was this bad I would have opted for another unit. A known recurring problem and the company hasn’t fixed it or honoured the product, wow. Fingers crossed mine doesn’t conk out… won’t be buying a replacement motor but spending my money elsewhere.
Don't buy from them, go to a local motor shop and they can order a real for you ! Take the old motor with you and they will come up with an exact fit !
So, I'm assuming since the beach was still post-winter I found a MUCH larger variety than usual. This batch was picked up late April, Early May. I believe I posted pictures of the beach that day. The water was SO COLD, my feet were numb, but the spring sun was out and it felt amazing!
ANYWAY...here are the photos, post polish! Wacky order. Shiners and the non-shiners...Just a lot of fun in this batch!
Well, here we go! Today I filled my UV-10 bowl to what I thought was 3/4 full of rocks, then took out 3 I thought were too big. Then I reread the part about how big of rocks you can use, and put them all back in, plus more.
I filled the bowl with water, then blocked the top and poured it all out to wet the rocks like dshanpnw said, turned it on and scattered in 2.5 TBS of 220 grit, with only a couple sprits of water. It took off and within a few minutes everything was colored gray and I was off.
I was a bit shocked at how loud it seemed, but it's vibrating rocks afterall I guess. To dampen the sound some I put it on the floor under a table in the garage and on a mat I had and blocked the front of it with a 2" foam cushion.
We live in a duplex and I was hoping it would mellow the sound a bit. You can hear the muffled roar of it in our livingroom, which is on the same level as the garage, but not really in our bedroom, which is directly above the garage. I also checked outside, and although you can hear it somewhat through the garage door, it's undetectable as to what it is, just a low whiring sound.
But still I was wondering if anyone is aware of what materials I could use, that won't break the bank, to block or dampen the sound a bit more?
Thanks!
Wet your rocks in a vegetable strainer and then dump in tumbler, it's much easier that way and less strain on your back !
