This is from the split of the piece the previous one was made from. Done freehand. My fingers are chewed up from attempting to skin an agate. Usually I mark a shape, grind the shape and dop. For this one I dopped the piece and started grinding. Reminds me of Pietersite.

10% off and they don't charge sales tax or charge for shipping. I don't need equipment but can always use trim saw blades and wheels. I pay $45.70 for an 8 inch generic MK303. They have an 8 inch blade for $31.50. I bought a soft wheel for $63. JB charges $75 with sales tax and free shipping. I have bought and used the HP soft wheels and they seem to be good quality and balanced. The only one that has received a lot of use is a 140 grit and it seems to be wearing well.

It is an unknown. Some vugs and pits to work around. The preform is domed and the pattern reminds me of Morrisonite of Jellybean. Softer than Morrisonite and close to Jellybean. Smelled like orange rind when grinding.

Good color in those last few. Learned something new today, I was always under the impression that Luna was purple with white orbs. The Luna name is used for agate from Mexico and New Mexico. What most people call Luna is from Mexico and is what you are familiar with.

gunsil This isn’t necessarily true. Most people holding garage sales are selling used household items for far less than they paid originally for them. This is not income. They are selling at a loss. If they are thrift shopping and then re-selling the items for a profit, or it’s a collectible and they are able to sell for more than they originally paid, then that’s income. But just garage sale transactions in general are not automatically “income”. The confusion is that a 1099-k is not a statement of income, it is money received. If a friend borrows $500 from you and you send it by paypal and when the friend repays you sending by paypal. You will both get a 1099-k for $500. The problem is that since 1099-k are reported, the person who receives one needs to prove that none or only some of the amount is income. No one receiving a 1099-k around $20,000 is going to have their tax return audited; small potatoes. The difference now is that supporting paperwork on the return needs to be included. Regarding sales tax, no one on facebook collects it on sales. The states are not going to bother; once again small potatoes. The tax on cigarettes in California is 87 cents a pack and the state is very aggressive in collecting it. I smoke cigars and the California tax is almost 30%. Tobacco shops in California charge it. Internet sellers collect it on a state by state basis. They currently don't collect for California or report sales to California, so the customer is suppose to self report and pay. The amount of California cigar smokers who report internet cigar purchases is probably close to none. This has nothing to do with politics. Trump simplified the 1040 requirements for many tax payers by increasing the standard deduction. Before, I had to keep track of medical expenses along with property tax, interest and other taxes. In my situation, the standard deduction was close enough to actual deductions so that I could take it and save a lot of paperwork. My actual tax went up slightly and I am not anything close to wealthy. They are the people who got the tax break. This horse shit 1099-k change creates a lot of work for the taxpayers and the IRS. Just plain stupid.

Thanks Ashley for volunteering. Vance said there were differing opinions on whether they were Crowley Ridge or something else. I don't tumble, but I did examine the nodules and faced polished a few with my Genie. I don't much about agates but they looked like pictures of Crowley.
When they are finished and there is interest, I will offer rough nodules here.

I have not mastered the art of taking a picture of a shiny chatoyant agate. I have a good camera but the lighting is difficult. I took this picture with the cab parallel to the floor and upside down to change the reflections. Flipped it horizontally and vertically with Photoshop and the picture is closer.

The difference is paperwork. Under the old rules the threshold was $20,000 and now it is $600. My understanding of this is it was put in to help pay for the covid stimulus packages. Typical congressional logic of how will a program be funded. The 1099k has nothing to do with profit, loss or income. It is payments.
My son has no income and doesn't file taxes. A friend asked him to receive and distribute money through paypal. He will get a 1099k from paypal for 5-6 digits. The net result of all this will be zero, but the 1099k will only show the payments received and he will need to file a tax return and show all the transactions that this is not income. A 1099k should be about income not just money received.

I forgot to work on the lace. I ground the preform and then started doming off dop. The attribute I was interested in was still there and relatively centered. The cab looks diseased and won't improve with more grinding, so I'll give up on it.

I dopped the larger Morgan Hill and Jelly bean. I dopped the boulder opal. I did some off dop grinding on the Super Seven and citrine. The Super is nice and I need to decide on a shape. I ground the citrine as a pear, but might want to grind the right side because of the white.

HP had a Canadian River Plume for sale tonight. I looked at it and other examples and what is missing from my slab is plumes. The one for sale had long plumes that look like feathers. My slab resembles Canadian river more than Wingate Pass. My uninformed vote is neither.

The boulder opal was different than what I worked with before. I saw the blue and made a preform and tossed the rest. I then noticed there were a bunch of gold specs so I pulled the other pieces out of the trash. I'll take a look at the cab from the preform to see if I want to work on the other pieces.
