Not sure I am spelling it correctly but I got a couple slices off the saraphinite rock I bought. I am just trying to shape a small piece that broke when I first started cutting it. So far, it is working up well but I have not taken it past 280 yet. My camera doesn't seem to want to capture the greens but picks up the silver shimmer Dry; Wet: Thanks for looking! Fran

Well, my camera is not picking up the green as good as it is so I will just post these as is. there are tiny vugs with crystal pockets in them and lots of white plume areas. Also lots of the brown crust seems to be in a slice here and there. I have not tried to cab any of this yet but I hope it is good stuff. dry: Wet: Close up: Thanks for looking. Fran

I sliced a little rhodocrosite last week. Finally posting some pictures. It was starting to get dark but the pictures are OK. My camera doesn't seem to capture just how pink it is but oh well. It is not capturing how green rocks are either. Dry: Wet: Not much difference between the two pictures. Thanks for looking. Fran

I finally sliced a little pietersite today. The rock was too big to fit the way I was planning on cutting it so I had to turn it sideways to slice a bit off so it could fit the other way. After a couple slices, I kind of think I like it better this way. I think I will get another slice before turning the other way and seeing if I want to cut it that way, as planned. Dry Wet Fran

It is hard to guess but it looks like a softer material so I would go with a lightly patterned mariposite or a varisite.

I have not done too much turquoise but I have only used diamond on what I do have, up to 50,000 grit. Seems to polish up really well.

OK, now that is a fantastic group! Love that victoria stone! Doesn't look like you would loose too much when you fixed the bottom and still retain that excellent shape!

That is beautiful! I had some Texas agate that had a similar pattern. Not sure where that stuff is right now...

I would say if it is only 75 dollars, it may really be a good deal. I had an inland and hated it but I still find I have uses for it, like flattening out the back side of a preform or using a shaping attachment to grind the sides of a preform down so you can take it to the wheels and complete. They will do cabs all the way through to a high polish as well. My gripe with the Inland was the motor always overheating and having to change discs to move on to the next step. Truthfully, I would take the risk if it looks in good shape.

Sure looks like a good group! Is the bottom right a Montana or is it a blackskin? Love the ones on the top right! Fran

I would have guessed the first to be budstone and the middle serpintine or Lizardite. The one on the right almost looks like a lemon chrysoprase. They all look great, no matter what they are! Fran
