Will ya toss a couple of those stumps in a flat rater and ship them to me? My 12 inch saw hasn't been worked very hard lately. Nice stuff, great price, hard to beat a deal like that. Jim That was good, Jim. I'm sure they'll fit in a medium flat rate ...

Hey Bill - must've missed you as we didn't get up there until after church around 11:00. Brought about about 150 lbs of materials ... more stuff laying around in the garage....

@shotgunner: bummer about the pricing! Curious to know what you're going to do with them (maybe I missed the project, duh) billg22: No, I don't go, it's too far but I'm still on the mailing list so I get the notifications.

Tommy - PM'ing you. Need some advice on Clear Creek. Also, we'll be up in Walnut Creek over Thanksgiving for a short visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Maybe we'll see you at Consolidated! It'll be a quick turn around trip.

No searchers meeting tonight. Vet center is closed.
Walt keeps his own hours. I usually visit on Saturdays so I can't speak for his weekday hours. :-)

Consolidated is awesome but you'll end up paying for shipping from NorCal...not sure is you care about that. Locally you might give Walt Lombardo a call. He's the owner of Nevada Mineral and Book over in Tustin. I bought a crate of coconut geodes from him a year or two ago that matched your needs.

Thanks guys. That area is a lot of fun. So much area to explore. And to John's point Yermo's really a happening place. :-) On one trip we found a hill covered in crystalline gypsum. Or, a pretty form of drywall LOL.

Hey, Jim. Good to see you again! Andrew is almost as tall as his mom and Nathaniel isn't far behind him. Nathaniel is pushing 85lbs and is only 8 yrs old. Andrew is 12 and is only 100 lbs! Additionally, they're both eating more than me now, which gets expensive when we go out to eat.
They are getting bigger and older. As we are, my friend!
CONGRATULATIONs on your Great Grandson. That is awesome!!!

Hey Gang ... yeah, it was a great way to end the summer. I love the Eastern Sierra's ... it's so beautiful back there. Great fishing, fun with family. The boys wanted to go rockhounding but there simply wasn't time to cram that into an overnight trip.
If you ever have a chance to drive 395 from SoCal north to Mono Lake, the scenery is tremendous. You start SoCal in the high desert. When you get towards Ridgecrest you enter the El Paso Mountains and a lot of old mining towns (and good rockhounding) Next come some volcanic landscapes. You can see old cinder cones and lava beds on each side of the freeway. As you move north through the Owens Valley, you'll see remains of old mining towns, small lakes and meadows, and the Sierra's on your west and the White and Inyo Mountains on your east. You slowly keep climbing in elevation till you reach the June Lake area where the pass tops out at around 9,000 feet. That area is comprised of towering granite peaks and pine forests. You'll see obsidian domes in the area as well. Continuing north past June Lake, you come to the intersection of 395 and 120 and you'll see Mono Lake and the little town of Lee Vining. Mono Lake is a high saline lake with just brine shrimp, gulls, flies, and methane. Interesting place, actually, smell and all. You'll lose a little elevation here, going down to 7,000 feet before climbing back past 9,500 as you approach Bodie Ghost Town and then Bridgeport. The drive up the pass is spectacular. I think the grade is eight or nine percent and it gives you an awesome view of Panum Craters, Mono Lake, the Sierras and White/Inyo Mountains.
If I was independently wealthy, I'd look to purchase a vacation home in the June Lake / Lee Vining area ... or simply move up there to get away from the rat race that is Orange County California. It's awesome country. We've made regular trips up here for the past four years or so.
Anyway, good to see you all again. Thanks for checking out the post. Paul
