Brian, weren't you the guy raiding ... ahem ... finding things in the landscaping rock at the local Taco Bell? Beautiful piece!

EXCELLENT JOB. That is really impressive. I like the idea of the oil pump with the direct spray. Guess I've got another side project this weekend. LOL. Again, awesome job, thanks for sharing the photos and build experience!

Jean: Interestingly, I can't tell the diff between 3G and 4G. Unless you're in a Dilbert cartoon and your 4G is better than your competition because it's: "G-g-g-good". My company equips it's managers with iPhone5 with a 4G provider and, in our building, I can only get LTE or nothing at all. My old Sprint Star Trek flip phone gets better reception than my iP5.
Ultimately, although the DEFY XT is "older" technology, it is light years ahead of what I'm using now and the plan is less expensive while providing more features and service. $38 Unlimited/unlimited/unlimited. The phones arrive this Friday so we'll be up and running this weekend. I'll let you know how they work and my first impressions.

29th, huh?
Conceptually, I could swing up Friday night, picking up Shotgunner, Susan, and Christopher on the way, spend Saturday picking through the rough and then come back on Sunday. To cut costs, we could all stay at my parents house in Walnut Creek ... hmmmm ... Barbara would shoot me. So would my parents ... I can just hear my parents: "PAUL, You drove all the way up here for a rock sale?"
Well, I think I go back to dreaming about winning the Lottery.

Sheen obsidian. You can find a lot of it up in Davis Creek, CA. I bought several boxes worth from Tony and the Hand-2-Mouth mining guys. Great stuff. Lots of fun to slab and tumble. The middle photo is mahogany obsidian. Great looking pieces, James!

Truth be told, the only thing that tempted me was a couple of mushroom nodules of Howlite and a really very nice "1/4" log of rainbow wood. But at $1 a pound a 400# stump wasn't very attractive. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Lots of people fininding what they wanted/needed/covetted.... Paul, it was great to chat with you too. Let's do Lavic! Jean $3 for a few rocks works for me. I only had $1.50 in my pocket! LAVIC ... Yeeehaw! Here we come! I'm all for that trip. We only had a chance to do that once and my AC Compressor died on the way out. Fortunately, it was only about 85 degrees on that trip. The side benefit: I got really outstanding gas mileage without the compressor. LOL. Maybe we can grab a few other SoCal folks and do a field trip and lunch.

Great write up, Lee. Thanks. My 14 inch is out of alignment and I spent the afternoon fiddling with it. Messed with the rails a bunch of times, going to try to see if I can move the arbor bushings around next. PITA.

Republic uses a hybrid system. If the phone finds a WiFi connection, it'll use that for the call. If not, Republic uses Sprint's 3G network. I'm actually pretty happy with Sprint's network so, for me, this is the best of both worlds. Low price and a wireless system I'm pleased with.

... to my cell phone of 15 years ... I was chatting with Scott (Shotgunner) today at the Searchers Rock Sale and somehow we got on the topic of mobile service. He mentioned that he had recently switched to Republic Wireless and gave me the skinny: 1. $19.99 per phone per month 2. Unlimited Data 3. Unlimited Phone 4. Unlimited Text For more information go to www.republicwireless.comNot the greatest or latest mobile device but, frankly, it's better than the one my wife and I are using. Here's what we're currently paying through Sprint: 1. $59.99 per month for 550 'Anytime' minutes 2. $9.99 per month for the additional line 3. No Data 4. No Text 5. Average monthly bill: $80 as we're consistently going over the 550 minutes. Last month's bill was $102 ... just for phone calls. Here's our phones: So, after years of service with the old "Star Trek" flip phone, we're finally moving up to a mobile (albeit, not the latest generation but newer than ours) device. Thanks for the tip, Scott! Paul Shiroma

Great photo/computer work, James. The camera must have a pretty high resolution as the cropping isn't showing any loss of clarity.

Great finally meeting you in person, Scott! It was great to chat with you, Bill, and Fish. Susan, where were you???
I bought a small selection of slabs, mostly stuff for some of the kids in our Bible Study group that are into rocks. A few for myself, Andrew and Nathaniel. Dee, package on the way for you as well.
I could not believe the self-restraint Scott exercised. It was impressive. I partially filled my bucket, paid for it and put it in my car and then came back to wait for Scott and the others. Then promptly filled my hands with additional materials! HA!
Great sale! Rockhounds are a great bunch. Some of the folks from the club helped me pick out stuff for the kids as well! Thanks!

Yup, I think it would be perfect for your perfume bottles, Fossilman. Seriously, that is a really nice case. What a great gift!
