I couldn't find my drill when it was time to do hurricane proofing. Tore the house/garage apart looking for it. Had to go to HD and buy a new one. I've had that drill around 30 years. GOTTA be here somewhere. How do you lose a drill? Now if I can't find something (unusual) wife unit says it is with the drill. ha ha ... (turkey butt!) Probably with Woofer's rocks! But did you blame your wife for not putting it away??? My DH and I went round and round yesterday over a pair of wire cutters, that I must have done something with, cuz he just had them. Found them as soon as he turned to walk away...they were in his back pocket.

So when I saw this thread come back up I was hoping they had been found. I HATE loosing things that I know should be here somewhere.

These pads fascinate me. I want to talk to you about these. Read the service duty of these monsters. they are rated for like 40,000 sq. ft. of concrete floor. amazing Commonly sold in 200-400-800-1500-final polish. I don't know much, except that Will (TNAgate Man) had told me that he likes to run his through all the stages dry, using only a series of these pads. He called his vibrating lap a 'dry screen'. It is what he used to polish all his paint rock slabs on. Said it was the easiest and far cheapest way to get a high gloss shine on the slabs. I so wish I could talk to him more about this. You always think you have time to learn from people, until you don't. I'll go back and see if I can find the emails about this.

I don't believe that movement of the rocks is vital to the performance. With my Lortone FL20, the 80, 220 and 600 SiC stages there is very little rock movement. It's not until I put them on the carpet lined polishing pan that they begin to move around in a counter-clockwise direction. In my opinion it's the vibrational movement of the pan under the rock that is more important during the grinding stages. I suppose you would get more vibrations with a high rpm motor. I also think 80 grit is as coarse as you want to go, again my opinion. Henry I was told by an acquaintance that he uses the 3M pads for floor polishing machines in his vibrating flat lap. Actually, he was going to sell me his lap this spring, but I only recently found out that he has passed away during the winter and his wife had already sold it (sadly, I thought he was ignoring my emails). Do you think that would that work for the polish step? He had told me that he runs his dry, but I also found out that it was possible silicosis that took him, so that makes me very nervous. Any advice about the polish step would me most appreciated. Something like this? Diamondblades4us Diamond Impregnated Burnishing Roll-X Pad (24-inch, 3000 Grit)

jamesp you da'man!!!! On Friday I sent Jim a PM with a couple of videos asking for his expertise. Didn't get a chance to visit RTH on Sunday, and found this amazing build in progress today. Just sitting at my desk on a Monday morning with this silly grin on my face. You made my day week, no...made my year! You're awesome!!! When I was cleaning out the garage on Sunday I found an old table saw base. It may end up being my frame. Will have to see how it matches up. Otherwise I have plenty of spare wood from the remodel that I can grab.

In the last laker, I see a little person walking in between the orbs on the left of the stone.

Cool material and I look forward to pictures of your hair. So where was every one. I would have expected more people. From the pictures only John had people at his booth. I am sneaky first thing in morning before they open I already had 150 pounds of rough picked out,. Wait to see which side door are open for the employees of the vendors to enter. Eazy peasy. Does these pictures work of my hair?? fantastic5 PS tried to get pictures early in day sans people. Stopped by later in pm to grab a vibe from John before I took off over the mountains for home. Last buy of the day. Had to leave early pm to get over the mountain passes before the traffic got bad. Lots of highway construction in the summer because winters here are hard on the roads.
When I post from my phone I'm subjected to autocorrect. I try to proof read, but some slip by. I meant to say haul and instead it became hair. But gotta say, the pictures were pretty great! You had some great hair, and still have what looks like full coverage of the solar panel.

But heck, she is the physician! Hey Scott, you need to tell my employer that they haven't been paying me enough!! LOL No, not a physician. I'm a clinical laboratory scientist. I supervise Special Chemistry and Point of Care testing at a hospital.

I kinda wish I knew it was a serpentine before getting it installed though. we were told granite maybe borderline quartz on toughness and that just aint so. The granite companies have some somewhat unethical practices when it comes to disclosing the nature of their stones. After weeks of searching my husband and I finally decided on a granite slab and its being processed now. I had fallen in love with a material that was first introduced to me as a granite from one store. Then a quartzite at another and a super marble from yet a third. I finally just took a piece home and it had a hardness much closer to marble and etched with lemon juice. Not something for my kitchen. We just like to cook too much. So we went with our second favorite. Fingers crossed that it works and looks like we hope.

That's a neat photo. Love the extreme perspective on ordinary things.
I think I'll enter that Nikon Small World contest this year. I have a photo I took on vacation a few years ago I think would be perfect.
LOL I bet they would laugh at the entry too! Great idea! You should do it!!
