Hello all. Here are some recent photos from my trip in Europe. 1)Recreated Norwegian building. 2)Delft Netherlands. 3)Small festival in the Claddagh area of Galway City, Ireland. 4)Brownhil Dolomen. County Carlow, Ireland. 5)Window-filtered view of Greenland from the plane.

Been out of the loop for while, but I have made some nice, inexpensive purchases. I'm sooooooooo hooked on this stuff. LOL.

I'm kind of in a quandary, since I like "naturals".

Hello all. Haven't done any rockhounding till today. I was intending to do some jade hunting at Big Sur, but unfortunately, there were multiple road closures on HWY 1. So I went for my yearly agate/chalcedony run at Pescadero Beach, San Mateo County. Nothing special, but just some of your run-of-the-mill chalcedony or quartzite pieces. One in particular has nice patterns. Henry

I heard another reasonable opinion that it's a combo of chert, serpentine and quartz.

Hello all. I was just curious as to what this might be. It has a dark green matrix with white inclusions. It does not scratch, but it is not jade. It feels dense and it has some surface translucency. What do you all think...translucent chert with quartz inclusions?? Henry

A mixture no-no. Big Sur jade, agate, jasper, Arizona pet. wood, moss agate, lake superior agate and labradorite. Trying a new method...sorta.

I'm going to keep it as a "natural piece".

Well, went out to Big Sur about a week ago. It was a few days after "the storm", so everything was pretty much picked-over. The only thing I found was this rough and tumble cobble. Nothing to write home about colors-wise, but it is one of the largest pieces i've found.

Flint? Chert? But I think the aforementioned is harder than 6.0. <scratches head>

Hello everyone. I need some advice on making a slightly-larger-than-quarter-sized ammolite ammonite into a pendant. This will not be done by me, as I don't have the necessary skills YET. What would be the best method to prevent cracking and aesthetics. I have heard a multitude of answers...so I would like a somewhat general consensus here (if possible). Thanks!
