I'm a huge movie fan so this is real tough for me.
Cannery Row with Nick Nolte. Grapes of Wrath One Flew Over the cuckoos Nest The Shootist The Unforgiven ( Clint's version) High Plains Drifter. Jeremiah Johnson Dead Pool( Guilty pleasure) Mr. Right (ditto) 40 yr old Virgin Both Magnificent Sevens Lonesome Dove ( I know, mini series) Forest Gump Dirty Harry Serenity ( I wear Firefly T-shirts!) Alien Avatar....... And I could just go on and on *L*

I'd lean towards chapenite from outside the classic sites, maybe down near Hector Hills way which is less fancy than the Ft. Irwin stuff, or even some of the similar stuff from Burro creek, AZ. Youngite, to me, is usually more botryoidal, more frosted with small crystals and way more vuggy....Mel

Pretty conglomerate. Angular pieces look more like a breccia. I always have a hard time differentiating breccia and puddingstone. I tend to think of puddingstone as being a conglomerate with rounded pebbles and a breccia with unrounded broken angular hunks but sometimes they seem to also have examples between the two, We get very similar examples in the Rio grande gravel here in Texas.....Mel

Awesome cabs all!!!! I like your "Horny toads" for Hornitos *L*. Funny story. Cal Fish and Game was looking for a population of the rare horned lizards found up the in the gold county by our old ranch. They were all over the place by the manzanita thickets up where the Hornitos Jasper deposits were. Just had to be rock hunting at the proper time of day. Horned lizards are one of the first lizards out in the AM and I'd dig in the morning when it was still cool. Perfect time to spot them sunning themselves. That red brecciated jasper comes from a ranch just over the hill to the east towards Coalinga from Parkfield, CA. Very similar Franciscan chert/jasper from up at Stony Creek too....Mel

I've enjoyed camping a couple of times in Rockhound State Park but the hounding was ehh. What eggs you find there are to me, pretty plain looking with out the color you find down at the Baker egg beds. I'm always super shocked to see the later diggings at Baker. We dug there several times years ago and the pit was just a tiny little cow tank with a bit of water in the bottom. We hit Big Diggins too with more limited success and man, the drive on there was like the dustiest ride I've ever taken. Really enjoyed camping out that way though. Very quiet and beautiful scaled quail all around the camp..Mel

Yep, India Indian *S* Don't know how they do them so cheap. A tourist shop in Fredericksburg has awesome 6" spear points of beautiful materials for like $10-12. Nicely knapped too. It would take me hours to do one and mine would not be half as nice. I wonder if they use one of those knapping machine/gizmos you see at some gem shows and gun shows because agate is pretty tough to flake.....Mel

Such a tough question. Probably Bruneau Jasper, Desschutes Jasper, any poppy jasper, all the northern Mexico agates, Dryhead agate, any palm fiber or palm root...Mel

Yep, that second pic is chrysoprase. Exterior and fracture is not jade like at all. The jade pic does look like nephrite, complete with inclusions, but actually looks more like Washington or Porterville,CA material than Alaskan. Whatever the source, that is not high quality color which is best if apple green and solid and if those dark inclusions are magnetite which is common in jade, they may undercut as often they are softer than the nephrite. Washington jade from the Darrington region often shows those olive tones. Hard nephrite but the lack of good color makes it less valuable....Mel

I like crystal vugs if the orientation is nice, pits and unfilled vugs not so much. I will say though, that sometimes when they show the natural character of the stone in a creative manner, they can be nice and lets face it, some stone types are just seldom found on perfect pit free condition...Mel

Should be shortwave I believe. The agates usually fluoresce sort of yellow green....Mel

Those look like Sweetwater agates to me, maybe ones that are not so rolled and sandblasted because they have not traveled far from the original deposit. They make wonderful tumbles and they fluoresce too. From around Jeffery, WY region..Mel

Could be petrified wood but I'm leaning more towards a chert look alike. We have a local chert called Pedernales chert that mimics wood pretty well and is almost identical to your images. Knowing the source would tell you a lot if that information is available, as that type of chert would only come from limestone formations like you'd commonly find in the midwest and SE US.....Mel

Really like the gastropods. Are they agatized? Funny, like the Wamsutter stuff, that is not Turritella, I see a couple of different species in your mix but no Turritella. Maybe Anchura or Cochlespira types. Can't wait to see those tumbled. they should look cool!!!!....Mel

Holy smokes, Tito is still kicking!!!!! That's pretty amazing because periodically we'd get a disease go through the place and some of the Ed birds would succumb. I know Luna, the Great Horned Owl, one of my favorite birds died not long ago. I've gotten so I never ask Kim because I'm always afraid I'll hear Rosie the Red Tailed Hawk has died and I trained that bird from a young'un and got real attached. I miss her a lot....Mel

Very cool! Since I used to work there this was like old home week to me. Your Id'd kite is a pergrine Falcon though. Wonder if that Turkey Vulture is "Handsome" the one we had when I was there. He was a character!. One of the reasons you could not see a lot of birds is only the Educational birds can be displayed to the public. Rehab birds , of which there are often many more types, cannot be displayed to the public up close.....Mel
