Have you looked at Damele turquoise? It comes in very similar colors and is known for the spiderweb look exhibited in this piece. If it is Damele it's fairly rare and probably has some age and value.

That swift creek piece looks astronomical to me. Reminds me of Starry Night.
I like the stamp theory re OP. Doubt fired clay would hold up to grinding. Really neat piece and fun to theorize on.

Pretty slabs. That deep red one is gorgeous. The last couple are like looking into a tide pool.

Gorgeous rock --- watching it develop was fun. Neato speckles and banding.

Found a nodule I'd like to slab. It's about 5" diameter and 6" long, and much more hard rock than matrix compared to most of the teepees I find.

The front face has banding visible around most of the circumference

The back end shows some pretty reddish crystal druze

Now I need to win the lottery and buy a saw.

Cool, thanks guys.
Oregon sounds very possible, the gramps had family there so they probably did some hounding during a visit.

Surface is smooth and glassy, the edges seem translucent, and it doesn't scratch noticeably with a nail ...

That's a serious lunker.
Is there any way to slab something that big?

Cool specimen. The wavy edge would be gorgeous polished. It's nice looking rough. Polished I bet it would really light up.

Some kind of conglomerate jasper? All very nice acquisitions. The smoky quartz is fantastic, haven't seen garnet on quartz before.

Thanks all. I still don't have access to a saw but may know a member here who'd cut them for me in trade --- I actually sent her one of the bluish ones with some (hopefully) agate nodules. If I do get some split I'll post pics.

Thanks for the link gingerkid, that's a cool one for sure bhiatt. The surface on mine is very rough and muddy by comparison. I love how smooth and polished yours looks.

Wow gingerkid that is gorgeous. Hard to imagine a prettier natural specimen. It's like a bouquet of perfect roses that will never fade ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
Oh, and I don't know enough about obsidian to classify it I just love the color and transparency. I can only imagine how precious it must have been to the person who discovered and crafted it.

I've been watching yard sales and the local Buy Sell Trade listings; something perfect will show up sooner or later.
I found an excellent top at a local metal scrapyard but haven't found a way to transport it home, it's a circular walkway made of expanded metal that came off a small oilfield tank. It's probably around 40 square feet of area and I'd just have to rig legs out of cinder blocks or something. Hopefully I can find a couple of helpers and a flatbed trailer before he decides to sell it for scrap ...

In addition to "normal" teepee agates I find a lot of blue nodules and nodules of conglomerate surrounding what appears to be a solid mass of jasper. Unlike the teepee agate nodules which are broken as often as not, these other 2 types seem to stay intact. I'm hesitant to just lay into them with a hammer; has anyone seen this stuff cut or know what it is?
