Just had it "ID'ed" for you... It's a thunderegg from "Agate Creek" Queensland, Australia... [brthanks@pauls had mentioned this locality also.. This seems to be a really nice specimen I wish my camera can capture it's true beauty . The clear spot of quartz has sparkles like if a crystal got blasted to a billion pieces.

I like high domes because they are bold and show the patterns in a very visible way.

Finished up a few more piece's .this has been fun just getting the hang of it. I was originally going to cut the back out. I decided to polish the bezel cup to allow light to reflect back out after dry fitting the cab into the setting. Liked how it looked.
Excellent work — I like them all, but especially the rings. I also like your pendant and the way you constructed the bail and attached it. It looks really clean and professional.
For settings where I want to see reflected light from the underlying metal, I cut a piece of reflective mylar to place under the stone. That keeps the piece looking the same by preventing tarnish from dulling its appearance over time. The mylar that I have I saved from the packaging of purchases that we've made.
Thank you. I was thinking about tarnish. Your idea is great. I will keep that in mind next time.

It looks very similar to Agate Creek Queensland thundereggs, the orange /brown areas are exactly what comes from that area, the Rhyolite looks similar too. Thank you. It does look like them. An Aussie egg how cool is that out of a random trunk at the flea. I do wish the other half was there. I'm plenty happy with 1 half. Cheers mate .

Hello all. I go down to my local flea market every weekend looking for things . I don't know what kind of things until I see them. Picked up this after I asked the guy if I could look at the junk in his trunk. Literally! Pulled this out with a nice purple rock might be fluorite or sugilite? I decided to post the egg half here because it's a keeper! I apologize I do not know much about it.

Nice work on those pieces. The moss pendant is my favorite, I think. Very pretty! Thanks that moss agate is awesome in hand I cannot capture the true colors that are in it.

Those ruened out really nice. Love the one you found at yard sale Thanks Ali, I like that agate also there was another one. Unfortunately the setting it was in was rusted barley, and it stained the cabb. I tried everything to get it out with no luck this one cleaned up nicely.

Finished up a few more piece's .this has been fun just getting the hang of it. Getting the settings ready. The ring on the top left I made for my wife. I think it is Royston turquoise, same turquoise in the bottom right. The ring on the top right is a very colorful moss agate that I slabbed and cabbed. It has a cut out back to allow light to pass. And the bottom left ring is a uunknown cabb I picked up at a yard sale. I took it out of the setting it was in. I was going to make a pendant with it in the process it morphed into a ring. I was originally going to cut the back out. I decided to polish the bezel cup to allow light to reflect back out after dry fitting the cab into the setting. Liked how it looked. The top moss agate pendant I had tobrework the girdle to even it out so it would be easier to set. Front view and back view. I have been stamping my piece's with AR (Accidentalrockhound) with 925. Thanks for looking.

Thank you everyone. It was fun to let the piece's create them selves the bails on the flower and rosebud agate where inspired by the piece's a had a couple simple choices but in the end the only thing that would make the piece be complete is to have a hand made bail. The tiger iron I used came from a huge chunk I picked up awhile back. It did not have a lot of flash but the pattern's in it where beautiful .

It has been a long time since I have made anything. I tend to get discouraged when thinking about a piece. So after a lot of inspiration from reading other threads and seeing everyone's creations. I went for it no plans just metal, rocks, and fire. This was the out come after my battle this was the out come. Rose bud agate, and tiger iron also a bit of turquoise. Note to self order heavier bezel wire. My biggest obstacle was to understand you are only limited by yourself. Take a chance. #1 rosebud agate #2 tiger iron #3 tiger iron with hidden bail #4 turquoise "Royston" I stepped outside my boundaries and limits. I pushed my self to make something .i originally started with the tiny turquoise cab. With intentions of make a tear drop pendant. In the process it bloomed into the flower. And then I had to make a bail to bring it together. When that was done I picked out a few cabbs I made awhile back. And bam just like that I had 3 more piece's. So to anyone wanting to do something or thinking about it. Just grab your material and go for it.
