I’ve been running the Pro model nonstop for over a year with no issues, and am happy with the final results. Most of the things I would note have been mentioned already (poor quality grit, runs fast and rollers are wearing down). The one thing I’ll add is it’s a good deal louder than the Lortones it sits next to. When I turn off the Nat Geo to clean it out I’m always surprised by how much quieter the garage gets with the Lortones still running. I'm very happy to hear that the Lortone is quieter. That will make my rationale to get one with my spouse even more compelling. Thanks! I set my tumblers on top of Foam Carpet Pad Reduces sound and vibration by 50%

I never put in enough water to create foam. My water fill for Stage 1 is less than half the depth of the rocks.

I could see them much better on a Black Background. One of those pictures burned a hole in my screen.

The foam would probably go away before the end of a 7-day run.

You can combine rocks from the same stage and hardness. I like to load the barrels to about 3/4 full, yes you will need to add more rocks as you go along.
Don't let them go 4 1/2 weeks next time.

Have received 2 of these small Arduino Nano computers. Each one is about the size of your thumb. I quickly learned to do basic programming and wrote a program to graph Outdoor Light levels.
Here are some examples of a Sunrise and Sunset. The display is 2 hours wide and contains 120 samples of outdoor light, 1 minute per pixel .
Here I am talking to the Rock Crowd about computers, electronics, and programing , but I do everything and you get to hear about it . . .

I took a few months off from tumbling but started back again after returning from Yuma Arizona with some interesting rocks, and entering the Rock Tumbling Contest. My stage 1 tumbles went normally, but stage 2 & 3 seemed to have gotten thicker than than ever, plus more material seemed to have been removed as compared to tumbling months before.
The interesting thing is that I am using Stage 2 (220) & 3 (600) grit in New freshly opened boxes from Kingsley North, the same guys that I always purchase my grit from.

If the belt is not slipping , the motor should be fairly strong. A strong snug Grab on the rod of a QT 6 or 12 Tumbler will stop the motor.

I also thought the material to be hard and slow work, but after 2 weeks I was already pulling rocks, and after the 3rd week I pulled all but 2 of them so I would have some stones large enough to be judged. Everything went into Stage 2 last week and the next cleanout is tomorrow.

The only rocks that I have ever paid money for were the Contest rocks that I bought a couple of months ago. And I will send my 5 best results back in for judging.

Sounds delightful, so I was reading up on uses for Borax Article mentioned weed killer. That’s what we want. However, it also mentioned fertilizer. How can something be good for the soil, yet bad for the plants/weeds? Thanks. As is often the case, it’s the dose that makes the poison. Boron is needed as a trace mineral. Most of us living in CA have more than enough boron naturally occurring in the soil, though. It’s what gives many delicate plants the crispy brown edges on their leaves. Bay Area isn’t as bad as the Central Valley or inland SoCal. If you ever drive through the town of Boron, you’ll see plenty of streets named after familiar, borax-based cleaning products, such as “20 Mule Team Road.” I'm sure that borax is worse for plants when applied to the leaves than to the roots.

It has been too cold to do a cleanout. This last tumble has been rolling for 12 days now, I'll do the cleanout this afternoon when it warms up a little bit. Will be finished with Stage 1 and will push it all into 220 grit today. My stuff has plenty of cracks in it.

Yeah I checked those links- "5 best of 2021" and "10 best Rock Tumblers" Literally the Worst Tumblers money can buy.
Substitute the word "Best" with "Cheapest".

Yeah the Arduino can run a robot and make some graphics, but the Raspberry Pi can Log In to the internet and hook up to a real monitor.
