Here is another batch of rocks from my Flint River canoe trips. These had a fair shine but this type of stone will breakup in the tumbler and probably carries grit forward in the cracks preventing a super shine. Plus the photos were taken on a heavy overcast rainy day so there are not any lights to reflect. Close Up of the best ones It would be nice to try and get an identification of these rocks. I want to call them Flint cause they are a bit glassy, but they crumble too easily. Here are some of my best Rough examples. Fossils are common in these kinds of rocks, usually in layers. The rock on the left has been in Course Grind for 2 weeks and the rock on the right is rough but cleaned. Here are some closeups of the normal ones that have been all the way through the polish stage. Not the most exciting rock but easy to find here and interesting for the cracks themselfs. This stuff is real hard and will spend 4-5 weeks in course grind.

Got another batch of Brewery Rocks out of polish today. These aren't as colorful as the others have been. A pretty shine but it was a cloudy rainy day and there were no lights to reflect. The best of the bunch closeups

My dad was a watercolor artist and would frequently sell his work over the weekends at Art Exhibits. It was the late 60's, I was between 11 and 15 years old and I would end up trapped at these events for a coupla days but I had free-run of the place and lots of interesting things to look at. But what attracted me the most were 2 Glass Blowers in the area and one of them was always at these exhibits. They would make very detailed art pieces like a Ship, Log Cabin, Animals and other wonderful pieces. I would find out their demonstration schedule and be there everytime they made a new creation. It was hypnotizing to me, it's a wonder I never experimented with that. I can show somebody some wonderfully tumbled rocks for awhile and they will be mildly amazed. Then I will show some poorly tumbled glass and they are instantly interested in getting some of it. The same with pictures posted on my FaceBook page, I can show rocks and glass and people are asking me if they can buy some of the glass. The best stuff I have played with are TV picture tubes or the bottoms of Coke bottles and thick Bar glasses. People are fascinated by the old Green Tinted Coke bottle parts. Because of this I've been wanting to mess around with some more glass and these threads are pulling my attention. So Jamesp . . . How much trouble are you having with Gas Buildup ? I get mixed results, sometimes gas, then maybe not . . . What about Chandolier Pendants ?

Gave up cable 5 years ago, would have done it sooner but my exwife had to have it. Put up a fancy TV antenna and now I get 15 channels free but I only watch a couple of programs. I like the show "CBS Sunday Morning" and try to see it everytime it's on. Also like the PBS show "Nova". Watch the news too, don't really like it but I like to feel informed. Watch a lot of YouTube stuff. I have Netflix Streaming but don't use it but a few times a week. I have a nice High Definition Home theater with the Big Movie Sound so I like to watch movies on the BluRay player to get the best quality and show off my system. So I have a Netflix DVD By Mail subscription that sends me 3 movies at a time, mostly BluRay stuff. The NetFlix DVD selection is wildly better than the movies on the NetFlix Streaming service. I also love to get movies from 4 Redbox locations within a half a mile from home. So my recommendations are movies from the NetFlix DVD selection
Christine - 1983 Steven King Purple Rain - 1984 Prince Trainwreck - 2015 The Revenant - 2015 Zathura - 2005 Inception - 2010 Labyrinth - 1986 David Bowie The Martian - 2015 Death Becomes Her - 1996 Bruce Willis The Day the Earth Stood Still - 1951 American Beauty - 1999

When I was flying rockets the D-engines were introduced. There were larger rocket motors available but Estes did not recommend them, and they were mostly made and sold by hobbyists and not always predictable. I worked at a fireworks factory operating a Press that could make 100 tube devices at the same time. I took advantage and made myself 100 rocket engines on a couple of occasions. Even mixed the compositions myself. Made the time delays with Sparkle powder so it would be a little more exciting during the coast phase at the top. Yeah, I called my rocket with 5 D-engines a "powerhouse" but I know there is some really big stuff out there.

Two weeks ago I decided to help get a roommate interested in Model Rocketry and dragged out all of my rocketry stuff intending to get back into it. Haven't touched it since that day but I still look at it with interest everyday. I want to make some experimental models that I've been thinking about for a long time now. The last rocket I made was totally custom. It was a 2-Stage powerhouse with a first stage that could be loaded with 1 or 3 or 5 D-engines leading to an upperstage with a single D-engine sustainer. It was 25 years ago and I was planning to fly a 35mm film camera on it. My interests were changing at that time and I only flew that rocket once as a 2 stage with single engine booster without a payload. Have the parts to rebuild this one and will in the near future. Fancy rocket that looked great but didn't fly so well Still have this model but needs some major rework before flying again All scanned negatives

This morning the News said we were at 7 degrees, my outdoor thermometer showed 4 degrees. Dogs did not care at all taking an outside break. Didn't have much winter at all the last few years. Keeping a humidifier running.

I took this picture of a friend firing a medium sized rocket that I built from an Estes Kit. Also made the Launch control system and the stove pipe launcher too. Probably made 100 rockets and launched 1000 times, still have a coupla boxes of rocket parts for custom rockets. Scanned negative

More information would be helpful . . .
Pictures of what you already have would be best Some idea of what you want to end up with would be awesome Size, Shape, Weight
Rock polishing does not normally involve adding a coating to the surface of the stone although you can do it as a shortcut Usually the surface of the stone is worked with smaller and smaller abrasives until it is shiny
The simplest easiest thing I can think of is a Polished Slab, possibly rounded down in the center

Oh No , there are 2 locations within 20 miles of me. The QT66 machine uses 6.5 inch barrels. Thinking about getting a 12 pound barrel.
