I have a 20' vibe lap wheel (lortone) for polishing really big flat faces, think bookends, and a 16' rotary (spinning) forgot who made it, lap for doing the same thing but with more mess. Bought both very expensive when new items on the cheap 'cuz they were used. Both are in my basement shop but really should be outside. Size matters.

Hey Driver, Welcome to the RTH from sunny Atlanta.
First off you want to start with a larger and better quality rotary tumbler, like a Lortone QT 12. You can tumble a high shine just as well with a rotary. Vibes do polish more quickly and use less grit but the coarse grit is very hard on the vibe. That is why some people use the two tumblers together.
If baby has "rocks all over the house", give them a tumble. Everything is prettier with a shine.
Best of luck.

Really nice looking Bots. At seven weeks you should be done by now. At what stage are you: #600, or #1000? I know that most vibronauts start finishing after #500 or some even at #220. Depends on the stone.

Pretty sure they remove it. I know there are productive spoil piles near Delaware City from prior C&D dredgings, but I don't know if the stretch they are working on now has any fossils or where they would put the piles -- would they haul them all the way to the are with the current (old, used to be productive but now depleted)piles? I hope somebody on here knows, 'cause it sounds like fun! If you are serious about fossils you might query for answers at thefossilforum.com

Welcome from sunny Atlanta.
There is nothing like #400 grit to get you through a rough time. But your high polish shows that you know it.

I enjoy watching "aliens are among us" documentaries, not propaganda and not science. I win; I am entertained.

Wha? janie123 , no one has told you about the pet wood or the pin-point opals found in La?
Oh, and a big welcome to the forum from Atlanta, Georgia.
