You are not a want-to-be lapidary sport; you have arrived. These are good looking, high quality items that anyone would be proud to own. Best.

Cool article, read it this morning during the news round. Gives one a real appreciation for our impact on history.

I love my Metolius Belay Gloves, at REI (Recreational Equipment Inc) . They come in at under $50, and mine have lasted 2 years. Make sure that you get the right size because nothing will cause ouchees like sloppy fit which leads to sloppy handling.

Welcome from sunny Atlanta, Georgia. Home of the best natural gems and minerals (and a few good fossils).

Make sure to tell everyone how it works out with jade. I use a 36 lbs boulder on my worktable as an anvil. Maybe its time to put some of it to work even though it is too dark (green) for fancy stuff.

I have tumbled a good bit of granite 'cuz I live in Atlanta, but the prettiest that I have worked is the pyrophorblastic granite that I get out of the Vulcan mine just north of Kennesaw. Large crystals of feldspar and lots of blue silica. The blue really pops in full sun after a rain and is largely retained by a good high polish tumble. Vulcan tells us this rock is 1.2 billion years old; why wait?
For the other granite its just easier to cab after the initial shaping and maybe up to #200 grit shine in the tumbler.

I've been using the camo colored ones from Walmart in my 220 run for several years, no floating film, I like that they sink. I've seen a lot less rock chipping and breakage since using them. I use them in my rotary tumblers.
But if they are camo how on earth can you see them when you clean out? Heh, heh!

Yeah I like the pictures too. As for cost of the boulder, I think that the potch would be a better alternative. Like the Hogg mine I betcha that the parking areas are just paved with quality crush jade.

If this is Green Mountain Jade greenmountainjade.com/about-gmj/company/ then surely you can purchase a small bag of less expensive jade to run a couple practice tumbles? I think GMJ offers a doable alternative. Sorry I can't get the live link in for you.

Marvelous stones and sheer deliberation of focus over a long period of time. Hats off to you.

What an interesting collection of hypothesis, opinion and science. I cannot wait to read the next chapter.

What a lovely display and it seems that updating will not be a problem. A lot of thought clearly went into this project. Good luck!
