Kind of looks like Wingate Agate to me. I can see it being some lower grade wingate

My one and only attempt sits on a self in the garage. I still have some shaping and polishing to do. I also bought a "cheap" scale, but my handles are gorgon rocky mountain butte and I wish now I didn't use that slab for the knife

I once was pooped on by a seagull at the Jersey shore, and an unknown bird species pooped through the cracks of my helmet as I bicycled across the Golden Gate bridge. This is just about the extent of my bird expertise. Great memories

Update on Butch (yep, I named him)
Appears he was indeed hit by a vehicle. He is suffering from head tremors and has been having a hard time. He did eat today so they are hopeful he will fully recover

I like that. I was playing around with something similar when I was electroforming. I like the look a lot

When I was talking to the guy from Cornwell he said there is no size difference between the 2 which I was all BS if there isn't. The size was the first thing that caught my attention but who knows, I could be wrong I'm calling BS...super big time BS! I've seen enough Bald Eagles around here...and the few Golden Eagles I've seen were NO doubt far larger than the Bald Eagles. Maybe we just have dwarf Bald Eagles around here! He was quite the pompous donkey. I've seen a lot of balds and I've never seen one that stood as large as the one we saw. They migrate through here starting in October and winter down in Southern MN along the Mississippi. One of these days I need to make a trip down there to see them We've decided that it's our unofficial sighting.

Oh no. I’m glad you saw her and stopped. When I see wildlife that’s been hit I always figure it was some idiot not paying attention which just makes me instantly mad. Granted, I know accidents happen and sometimes they run into the road and even the most attentive driver can hit them, but I just naturally feel it was someone not paying attention. I’m glad you were and got her some help and I’m also impressed they could send someone so quickly. The fact that she didn’t run (fly) from two humans is suspect. Hope the wildlife lady can help her.🤞🤞 I used to live on an island in the Puget Sound and was awakened every morning by a family of eagles in the trees above my house. It was really pretty cool. (Except for the time one swooped down and tried to grab my cat off the 2nd story deck rail. I was out there like a momma bear right quick!) We had a neighbor whose small dog got scooped up by a bald of their dock. The dog never saw it coming

I geek out over raptors. We are pretty lucky here to have a good population of Balds, Ospreys, hawks, falcons and owls. I still have a bucket list of raptors I haven't seen such as the snowy owl and a verified sighting of a Golden. I say verified because I believe Nate and I recently saw one, but the Cornell Lab of Ornithology doesn't agree with me [yep, I'm a bird nerd) This is my 1st encounter with an injured bald and I was really geeking out at being so close to it.

I hope this story has a happy ending. She? Does look worried. I hope it has a happy ending as well. It kept turning in circles and shaking its head, which led me to believe it got hit and had maybe a concussion Ill call Monday to check

I was heading home to go let the girls out before heading to the SSN office to change my name . I love taking this road when I have a little extra time to get home, because I lallygag and this particular road is full of wildlife I saw this juvenile in the ditch and most times if they are on the ground it's because they are scavenging on something so I looked for what it was feeding on and didn't see anything and as I got closer it didn't fly away, which is also unusual. When I got alongside it, I noticed it was looking a little stressed. I pulled over, got out and it was very apparent it was not well. I called the wildlife rescue that is in another town close by, kept the eagle from going into the road and within 20 minutes she was there . We got it secured in a kennel and off she went
Prelim report was physical exam was normal and blood work was pending.

The lines of black rocks are interesting. If someone made them they have too much time on their hands. Was this in a small cove with rock walls on both sides? Only thing I can think of is they are different density and having the walls on either side might create wavy patterns with the water rebounding off of the walls as the waves roll in. But the lines of the "points" are very straight. ?? Your thinking is correct if I had to guess. I used to live on the south shore of Lake Michigan and while it's kind of hard to explain without being there, different sized and different makeup rocks ended up in different positions relative to the water.
I could see this in the sand grains as well. My best guess is there was a perfect wave or two that had the right "lift", for a better word, that pushed all of that lighter basalt types to the wave crest, aka, were the wave collapsed.
I have pictures, but I can't find anything at the moment.
Good eye, I love stuff like this You see that all along the shore. The black rocks are probably basalt and they tend to be very light.

Garrick is still there as far as I know. He has been pretty active on TIKTOK and FB and was recently in the Panoche Hills Kris is still struggling with health issues. I haven't checked in on him for a little while. Kris taught me how to cab and dry burnish obsidian. Learned a lot from them both and Garrick is fun to go hounding with. He also has a hell of a lot of material that is fun to go through He still has all of my Halite 😅

I lived in Fresno for many years. You won't find much there. Contact Garrick Newman (Young Gun Mining) in Madera. He will help you with locations.
