Great weekend's work. The dendritic opal catches my eye as do the unique shapes of several cabs. Mighty fine. Thanks Rick, I appreciate it.

Wonderful group, John. My favorites are your lapis and serape jasper. The lapis looks like a surreal landscape: bright white clouds over a nighttime cityscape. The vertical banding of the serape works so well with your outstanding cab shape. The curved sides that abruptly transition to a straight-lined peak gives the illusion of a flat, triangular surface folded into a gentle curve. I'll have to borrow that! Thanks Gary. I was sort of trying for that with the lapis, I’m happy that you noticed! The serepe was what it wanted to be. I had quite a different preform cut out but it broke, so this is what happened. I like it I think!

Lovely! I'm really liking the cotton candy w/ druzy, but they are all winners. Thank you Tela. I might have to get more, it’s pretty fun stuff.

Beautiful cabs, John!
Love the Pietersite and I really like the shape on the Rocky Butte.
Thanks Robin! I tried to make the top part more pointy than other bulb shapes I’ve done. The real challenge will be setting it in a bezel 😉

I planned to do some smithing this weekend, but it was REALLY hot, so I decided I would prefer to have water splashing on me instead of running a torch. Here’s what I ended up with: dendritic opal lapis...I was hoping it would be a bit better quality but it’s nice llanite. I like working this! parrot wing chrysocolla cotton candy agate with a nice druzy pocket Tiffany stone pietersite. Finally got one I’m really happy with! rocky butte hornitos poppy jasper. Super thin slab, so it’s backed serepe jasper I was told? some of the ‘Biggs-ish’ jasper I slabbed a while back Thanks for looking!

All are fantastic, but I’m a sucker for dendritic anything, so the Australian opalite and amethyst sage are my favorites.

Awesome work as always Billy! I haven't commented yet on your win in the contest, you're the one who a person aspires to be like. but thank you. Thanks Billy, that's very kind. I do a few things pretty good, but my smithing experience is limited and I'd have no idea how to do much or anything with texture, and it would take me a long time to make a ring like this!
