Prescription meds are bought in Mexico as well. Made by US companies but sold for much lower costs than in US.

Yeah, why is that? I live less than 20 miles from the border. While my mom was in the "doughnut-hole" (medicare), we used to pick up one of her medications in TJ. We don't have to any more, but wouldn't go down there now anyway. Haven't done so in over ten years. Jean

I think it is because, like gasoline, we will pay whatever we have to. Or whatever the insurance companies will pay.

Seems the question may not be if you can keep your doctor, but whether your doctor can keep you. "Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association. The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court. Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65." . . ."The DPMA found that many doctors do not believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will lead to better access to medical care for the majority of Americans, co-founder of the DPMA Kathryn Serkes told TheDC." dailycaller.com/2012/07/09/report-83-percent-of-doctors-have-considered-quitting-over-obamacare/Doctors Leaving AMA In Droves Over Obamacare www.hyscience.com/archives/2011/09/doctors_leaving.php

Obamacare is upheld, and we, the taxpayers are being held up by still another tax. Thank you Mr. Obummer. There's a special place in hell for the likes of you.

Increasing demand by letting more people access the unaffordable healthcare system without unaffordable private insurance. Damn that Obama. Keeping young people alive and shit.

Heck, I am for healthcare reform, but IMO this ain't it. There is not so much incentive these days to become (or remain) a physician. I believe a shortage of nurses is yet another problem even now. Ya know, they should re-release the film 'Logan's Run" starring Michael York. It is most apropos to the times.

Agreed that Obamacare isn't the final fix. But it's a step along the right path to a single payer solution. There's no reason to have all these profit hungry corporations making decisions on payment, eligibility, etc of care when a lot of problems can be solved by the single payer model. Sure the wait may be longer but the costs would be standardized, more fair, and more people could access the system. More doctors will come along to fill the gaps eventually. Maybe next we can work on the costs of education to help speed that along. Drs are having a rough time with the costs of their own insurance for malpractice. Not sure why more people don't see the problem with lawyers and insurance companies running what should be public services as for-profit operations. Life and death should never be second to profit.

Gosh, the Republicans sure are tripping over their lies these days Don! Look what I found: www.infowars.com/thousands-of-new-irs-agents-to-be-hired-to-enforce-obamacare/"Rep. Kevin Brady, a Texas Republican, warns that the IRS will hire up to 16,500 new enforcers in the coming months to go after citizens who do not pay the new Obamacare tax. The expansion is said to include criminal investigators who “make cases” in order to levy penalties on scofflaws." So which is it? It can't be enforced, or 16,500 IRS agent jobs coming open to enforce it? Both are Republican positions this week. You should stop reading tabloids for your news:P.

It means the Obama Gestapo drumming up cases against people, to fine or imprison them for things that otherwise couldn't be enforced,
16,500 more government workers feeding at the Obama hog trough. Being fed by the tax payers. Just what we need. 16,500 more government leaches. And you still want us to vote Obama back in ? Hasn't Obama grown the government worker pay role enough already ?

Helen, the ones filtering stuff, is the mainstream media. Ever notice that FOX will report on newsworthy stories that the others either don't report on, or just give them very quick mention, with the real meat of the stories edited out? Many time the Mainstream media only report after they've been shamed into it by people asking why FOX reports stories that the mainstream stations don't. Usually they are stories that show the current, (and soon to be past), administration in a bad light.

No, Jake, I haven't noticed that at all. What I've noticed is that FOX news MAKES STUFF UP COMPLETELY. Going back to Obamacare as example, all you have to do is READ THE BILL. I linked the bill in its entirety. WHY do you need Fox news or ANYONE else to filter news for you when you can read the thing the actual Congressmen themselves and the Supreme Court read to make their decision? Or read the Supreme Court's opinions. Ginsberg's is something else. The 9 justices should be like the Fates, the smartest people in the USA. Ginsberg certainly fits the bill: www.businessinsider.com/romneycare-obamacare-ginsburg-supreme-court-ruling-2012-6Gaah... I can't find her full dissent now. It's brilliant.

Fox has beefed up its team by flying in to Washington an experienced producer who previously worked extensively on the network’s Supreme Court coverage.
At 10:07:32 – 52 seconds after the Chief Justice began speaking – Bloomberg issues an alert: “OBAMA’S HEALTH-CARE OVERHAUL UPHELD BY U.S.SUPREME COURT.” Bloomberg is first, and it is right.
Fox is catching up fast. At 10:07:39 – less than a minute after the Chief Justice began speaking – it displays a banner: “Supreme Court finds health care individual mandate unconstitutional.”
Fox has also assigned one of its most experienced and respected anchors, Bill Hemmer, to lead its coverage. Having been given unqualified information, he now says decisively (at 10:07:50), “The individual mandate has been ruled unconstitutional.”
CNN and Fox are both confident in their reporting.
Unfortunately, neither network is paying attention to the wire services. In addition to Bloomberg’s early report that the mandate had been upheld, the other three principal wires that cover the Court – Reuters, AP, and Dow Jones – have issued similar alerts in rapid succession.

The thing I find ironic is that most of the folks squealing the loudest against single payer socialized healthcare are the recipients of single payer socialized healthcare (Medicaid/re). If there's one thing the younger generations have learned, the old men in government are going to tax us no matter what (partly so they can have their socialized healthcare). Why would we not support seeing some benefit of that taxation? Sure, some of the older generations had it rough, sure they walked uphill both ways everywhere they went, but isn't the American dream (which the older generations are also lamenting being lost) to have better benefits and lives than those before us? That the efforts of those before should bear some fruit for their children? As society advances, so should society's fruits to those in it.
I saw a cartoon or meme the other day that said something like "conservatives are people with two perfectly good legs who has never learned to walk forward." To deny future generations the benefits of your work and sacrifices kind of makes them pointless doesn't it?

What sticks in my craw is how the administration seems to think we are idiots. It is not a tax, yet the IRS is to be the enforcer? Right. It seems to be 'in' to blame the older generations for our woes, but I would remind folks that present generations have benefited from their work. I would ask, have you had it easier than your parents or grandparents? They are not to blame, they built and often defended this country, sacrificing so their children would have a better life. It is the progressive movement that has slowly but surely squandered America's inheritance.
Liberals are folks with both feet firmly planted in mid-air. . .

Helen, I got a laugh out of that first statement. --- Do you really think for one minute that FOX news would still be on the air, if they were " making things up ?". The FCC and this administration has been trying to put FOX off the air, because they can't control what is being reported. Your second statement. --- >Quote Nancy Pelosi<. "YOU HAVE TO PASS THE BILL, TO SEE WHAT"S IN THE BILL." And at that time, both the house and senate were controled by the Dems. There's not a single person in the house or senate who had read that bill in it's entirety, including Pelosi. If they had been given another month to read and absorb what was in the bill, even the majority of the Dems would have rejected it. That bill was one of, if not the biggest railroad jobs in the history of our government. Yes, The Supreme Court found the bill to be legal. But you can tell by reading their decision that they didn't like it. As for reading it, I don't have the time, nor the wish to read the entire bill. I doubt that you do either.
