Grinding and smoothing with wheels is a much different route than tumbling Beverly. I suppose my forte is just tumbling.

I was just wondering if it COULD be done - sounds like it can! I will continue to study tumbling glass methods until I am comfortable moving forward. There is MUCH more than what my pictures show.

I have looked at glass on there. I use to sell on there as well. Made some.nice cash on some Murano and Fenton that I never should of let go. Owell......From what I can find on your green bowl it is hand blown and not a mold. Hard to believe huh? But you should see one of my Muranos, it would blow you away with how they did it. With the Kosta Boda label it was made in the 70's to 80's. Any pieces with just a Kosta label was made prior to that and the value would increase. Home goods does have a nice selection, but sometimes so does Marshalls and Tuesday Morning. Bonus is they tend to be cheaper there. You need to come to Atlanta, so many places to tumble(I mean glass)hunt. So you have sold/bought, cool. Etsy at that. Etsy had a wide assortment, with educational descriptions. Good place to appraise. Well, the yesterday discovery of Etsy may not be good for the glass population, I see some hot items on there. One of the Home Goods store had about 6 giant bowls maybe 24 inches across. Heavy glass too. Stretched. But monotone or bitone colors. Murano 'process'. It appears these Murano 'process' pieces end up at Home Goods because they have what seems to be ugly colors. Ugly in eye of beholder.. At 1/4 to 3/8 inches thick they are my favorites for tumbling, the Murano process. I need to take some photos so you can see what is going on here in these shops. you know I have no competition, smashing pieces for tumbling. who does such ? I would love to visit Atlanta, always been on my list of places to see -maybe even find myself a Georgia Peach Why do Northern girls have a thing for southern boys? oh ya and find me some glass-Georgia has some famous potters also.
The ex and I had a vinyl record shop and a antique shop -his thing was the records, mine the glass and pottery. Plus whatever items we could find that would turn for profit. Have had some interesting, rare items.
Have a storage full of stuff that I need to go through-Wonder if you can tumble vinyl ? hmmmmmmm
Photos and lots of them please, have a feeling you keep posting stuff on FB and here you are going to have some people joining the glass craze

I'm wondering if there is a way to just smooth the broken side. ? You might try some automotive-type sandpaper wrapped around a popsicle stick.

FYI, captbob, I gave up that position when I quit caring.
Don't believe there are any others out there....

Is your house a hoard museum ? Aisles thru cool stuff ? Interesting businesses and fun too. Better to deal in fun stuff than in more serious fields. I guess I would not qualify for a beneficiary for your glass ? Got a friend I mentioned before, his family is well embedded in generations of clay pottery. His Mom was a real nut but I always got along with her because I found her pottery fascinating. Steve hated it. He'd leave me at his house talking to her. She was from the Montgomery Alabama area, Redlands Alabama named after the clay color. She had a thing for glazes, some incredible.

We have done this before using a 1 foot square piece of - what else? - 3/4 inch glass. Pretty sure it is tempered, most likely an insert for a coffee table or something. Can pick them up at thrift stores and such.

Funny but when I was with the ex, the house was jammed packed full of stuff. He is a hoarder. I hated it. Now that it is just me and my daughter we don't have that issue. The glass I have it would be stated in the will that you are in no way allowed to smash and tumble. I do need to leave it to someone for safe keeping, my daughter would probably just toss it, she doesn't have the interest in my glass or rocks-somehow I don't think she is my kid. Doesn't even like to fish. Don't know where she came from. There is some amazing 1800 Alabama Folk Stoneware that I would love to get my hands on. Very cool stuff. There is some big money to be made in Southern Pottery www.crockerfarm.com/highlights/southern-pottery/

There are bench type glass grinders that stained glass people use. Some people here put a groove wheel on them and cut a groove in cabs to edge wrap. There are diamond 4 or 5 inch and up hand grinders that some people use. I have the diamond wheel on a hand grinder (probably shouldn't call it a hand grinder or imply that you should grind your hand with it). There are quite a few lapidary supply houses that offer one or both types of grinders.

Maybe even something so simple as a Dremel grinding wheel?
