Nothing to forgive. Don't blame you at all. Some thing for all of us think about if somehting like this happens to you. Ebay purchases, I had one purchase that was closing and due to be paid. No one else in the house had my pasword to get in and take care of it. Finally got to talk to my stepson who also buys on Ebay and was able to get him access to my Ebay account and Paypal account to take care of it for me, but I was concerned that seller would cancell the sale and post a negative feedback. Fortunatlly got it taken care of in time. I it was nice to come home to some new rocks to look at even if I can't do anything about them now.

I have failed to make a couple of commitments to members of this forum over the past 6 weeks or so. Reason not exuse is as follows.
I had a heart attack on December 23, 2007 and ended up having 5-way bypass along with defibulator/pacemaker installed. Spent the time between then and now in either the hospital or rest (?) home. I got out yesterday and am now resdtricted to lifting no more than 5 pounds with either hand and can not raise my arm above shoulder height for at least another 4 weeks.
My apologies to members that I had commitments with and will try to take care of these commitments as soon a physically able to.

Tring to polish obsidian in a TV10. Went thru 120/220 after tumbling in a rotary tumblerfor 6 days, then in 400 for 5 days, then AO prepolish for 4 days, then CO for 5 days. No shine at all. Then put ing AO polish for 5 days and still no polish. I am using about a pound and 1/2 of plastic pellets in the batch. Any suggestion on what to try next. The only thing that I can think of is that I don't have enough small pieces in the batch but thought that the pellets would take care of that. TKS for any suggestions or help.

I use an old electric frying pan and a small aluminum pan for the wax. You can put the rock in the frying pan to heat and then apply the wax to the dop stick and then on the rock. I use an old piece of cold iron to mold the wax on the dop stick and then to cool the rock after dopping it. It works for me and the cost was practically nil.

One of the guys at work is going hunting in Arizona next week and said that he would bring back rocks from there for me.
He said anywhere in SE Arizona and south of Tucson and Stafford. Also around the border of Arizona/New Mexico.
He also would like to stop at rock shops if anyone knows of any good ones in those areas. He will collect while he hunts if possible.
He is driving a 4x4 pickup so is not limited to only good roads.
Maybe someone can also tell him about any unknown hunting spots in that area.
TKS

I was able to find black and mohogany and straight black in pieces up to about 10 lbs. Lots of small 2 to 6 inch by 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Lots of tumbling size if you want that and then also all the small pieces that you want. If you go out into the sagebrush I am sure that you can find just about any size you want. Do pick up the map from the Chamber of Commerce because it shows all the different colors and their locations. To get to some of the areas you will deffinately want 4WD vehicle or Quadra track vehicle. Lots off places that have been used for overnight stops in the area. I saw no signs about no overnight camping.

I had a good day at Richardson's Ranch (150 lbs. of Thundereggs) plus some Jasper and misc. other rocks. Went to 2 locations from the Chamber of commerce map ( courtesy of the Motel that i stayed in) and Glass Buttte for Obsidian. Lots of Obsidian there but you have to look for the bigger pieces, if all you want is small pieces then stop you vehicle when you see the ground shining and pick up as much as you want from the side of the road (more like a trail then road).

Will be in Prineville area latter part of next week and wondered if anyone had locations in that area for rocks? Will have about a day and half to spend in that area before I head for Glass Butte for obsidian.
Thanks yogibear Bill

I was surprised that it showed that much light thru the slab but, what is interesdsting about the slab is that the sides are different from each other. When I was cutting I got side #1 first and wanted to keep that. Switched the nodule in the saw and cut the slab and found a totally different scene on the other sie.

Haveen't really decide yet and some assorted Oregon Sunstone Idaho Garnet, Montana rough Saphires and that sort of thing and am leaning towards using them. They will give an interesting look to the table top when lite.
