No drinking imported beer today, lol. Like there's not a huge assortment of domestic beers to choose from, right?

9-5 is National be Late For Something Day. It is also National Cheese Pizza Day. I prefer the pizza to being late. Just do not be late for the pizza! Happy National Be Late For Something Day! Damn, sorry I'm.......late. Funny story about that particular holiday. I receive emails from AS&S (American Scientific and Surplus) just about everyday with their specials. I mean, who doesn't like surplus? They also like to use "holidays" in their promotions. I don't even recall what the holiday was, maybe it was "Talk Like a Pirate Day?" Anyway, I sent an email to them pointing out that they had gotten the date wrong for that, they had missed it by a week! So I mentioned the Be Late Something Day. They loved that, and said I was the only person to catch that error. Said they'd be sure to use that one next year.

I have to wonder if Jake passed before Don was buried, and if he was buried with him, as Don had intended? I hope his wife was able to handle all of Don's accumulations and projects. My, but he had a lot of possessions. Has anyone been in contact with her? His name evades me right now, but the trucker friend who was put in charge of his estate was still posting equipment in FB sales groups a year or so ago. Don wanted it to hit the market a little at a time, there is probably still stuff in the shed. I don't do FB, so don't know what all he has been selling. Lee, I think his name is Bob. And I remember Don telling Mike Fossilman that he would have Bob pick up a box of stuff for Mike when he next stopped by, and have him deliver it to Mike. So maybe Mike knows his name? Fossilman ? Having just a very vague notion of all the stuff Don had, I'm sure there's still plenty left.

I didn't realize your namesake hurricane happened earlier this year, doh! I hate when things are posted online without dates. It was actually on a weather site, they made it sound like it is happening right now, lol Rick wasn’t on the Atlantic menu this year. www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/MIATWSAT.shtmlHe’s currently fading to your south. www.nhc.noaa.gov/?epacOkay, I'll buy that. Dang, I forgot to go to either the WMO or NOAA website and check what they were naming the Pacific vs. Atlantic hurricanes this year and commit them to memory.

Jean.....rain, not drizzle, got here an hour ago..........you should be catching some by now since wind is dictating....don't expect much though, just lower temps than what we normally get this time of year.......smile face guy will stat complaining when he's freezing his ass off while we are enjoying 70's......lol Joe, it's almost 5pm, and just starting to get some drizzle. It's not much, but it's beginning to drip off the edge of the patio roof. Watching the news again for the weather, it's wet and raining in San Diego now. Glad I don't need to be out on the road now! Definitely will be colder tonight. 66 degrees out there now.

You Californians are hard to please. You complain when there's no rain, and complain when there's too much rain. I only complain about too much rain in a short period of time because my cactus will suck up too much of it, get too heavy, and fall over. Not worried for myself, I'm not sugar or sh*t, I'm not going to melt, lol. Another thing I worry about is my 30 plus foot tall, off-balance avocado tree, which needs a professional trimming. No way I can get my old, fat ass up there and prune it up myself. I don't have a death wish! There is also a gusty wind warning in effect until early tomorrow morning. The roots of the tree are a bit shallow. When the ground gets mushy, and the wind blows, you can see the surface roots lifting on the upwind side of the tree. An easy matter for the wind to blow the entire tree over. So I complain... No rain here yet, but it's definitely thinking about it!

You have heard of false positives, right? Are you having symptoms? I'm sure you know what to do. Hope if it is not a false positive, it is mild and goes away quickly. Yes, my Doctor who is over the top thorough mentioned that the home test which I took and tested positive with, are more likely to be a false positive. She had me come in this morning and take the quick swab that they came out an administered. 35 minutes later I had the 2nd positive test result. Just got home from the infusion, which she recommended due to my age and a couple of underlying conditions. I think that Covid grabbed me for a couple days, but the vaccine jumped up and did it's job before feeling too bad. On my Doctor, she called sat night after I sent a message to her earlier in the evening and Sunday afternoon. Not many doctors are going to do that. That is great news, Henry. Glad to hear your doctor will go the extra mile for you, too. The test results most likely were about the worst kind of news to get on your birthday. Now focus on getting better! You can have that beer in a few days, it'll keep!

rockpickerforever that hurricane earlier this year was the worst for us but by hurricane standards, fairly whimpy when it went over us. We haven't had too much rain here at all, just enough to keep everything green. We're close to the coast camping again and going to the docks in McClelanville Thursday to buy 50 lbs of fresh shrimp to put in the freezer. Thanks for the update, Rick. I didn't realize your namesake hurricane happened earlier this year, doh! I hate when things are posted online without dates. It was actually on a weather site, they made it sound like it is happening right now, lol A buttload of shrimp sounds wonderful!

I wonder if he got an exemption and got to take the Fairburns with him. 😀 I like to think so. In fact, I believe he said a few times that he would take some with him. I miss Don's spirit and humour as well. Loved his playful bantering. He didn't pull punches, and always called a spade a spade. I have to wonder if Jake passed before Don was buried, and if he was buried with him, as Don had intended? I hope his wife was able to handle all of Don's accumulations and projects. The weather guessers are backing off on the amount of rain they said we'd get here in extreme SoCal from this storm. Earlier this morning on the news, they said .16 to .5 inches on the coast, maybe up to .75 inches inland. I'm okay with that, don't need a full year's worth in one day! But will wait and see what happens. It is predicted to start mid afternoon, with the heaviest amounts between 3 and 7 pm. Haven't checked on it lately, but how is Hurricane Rick progressing on the east coast, Rick? Some funky weather fer shure this year. The entire year has been a real clusterf**k.

And part 2. More hiking, fishing, shooting with my sons and grandson. Thanks for looking! I love Kai's expression. I believe he is thinking, "Jeez, Dad, don't you have enough photos of me already?" Thanks for the pics, Mike! I love the gorgeous scenery up there (but you can keep the cold). Looks like you all had a great time.

jamesp, was "light in the loafers Lenny" the stud, or did you go with another one? I guess Pipa just wanted you to give her a few extra years to be a puppy, lol.

Thanks for the info, Rick rick . Wow, that is odd, a double birth sack. Wonder if the circumstances were something weird, like an absorbed twin? That would explain his large size. After the first one, I was thinking it was good he was the first one, as Pipa maybe wouldn't have had the strength to birth him if he was last. Again, so glad everything (and everyone) came out all right.

Beautiful pups, James jamesp ! When did pup five make it's grand entrance into this world? So glad Pipa is doing well and being a fine mommy. Thank you for sharing, James. Count the puppies in the picture, Jean! #5 arrived around noon yesterday according to an earlier post.
Robin, I counted five, cute, furry little bodies in the photo, so knew that number five had arrived. I asked when it arrived. How long was Pipa in labor? Last one male or female? How big? So many questions... ETA - PS, Despite looking for it, I missed the later post.

Love all the cabs, Jason, but number 3 looks special to me. Its patterns appear to fool the eye, or at least my eyes. They make it look like there's a crease across the middle with both the top and bottom having their own higher domes. I'd promote that visual characteristic (if the cab were mine). I'll second that, Gary. Number 3 is also my fav! Love the stone, and the orientation to the pattern.

Hopefully back the way they came... haha We pulled a minivan out that was stuck in the sand flats in the N.Cadys ... the had absolutely no business having that vehicle in that location. Sure, sometimes people forget to bring essential, sometimes life-saving things, but overall, I think the most common form of stupidity is when people overestimate the capabilities of their vehicle. Doh! Have seen that many times out at Ocotillo Wells. And that is an off-road park, with (mostly) graded roads, street signs, the whole ball of wax! Then you get the person who has spent the money on a four-wheel-drive vehicle, but doesn't know how to drive offroad. SMH. In Quartzsite one year, one of their rock club's (Roadrunners?) field trips during the Powwow was south of town, just slightly off of Hwy 95 for bird's-eye rhyolite. I couldn't believe someone thought it appropriate to drive a zero-ground clearance Corvette! They had to park it just off the road, and get a ride in with someone. Doh!!
