Me down in S Georgia. Quality Inn. Coral trip. That tropical front is going to hit Sunday. River is too high to find the good stuff. Explored way down the river. Had to bring a bottle of gasoline to get back to boat ramp. No exceptional finds. Nothing like Utah. Got some decent coral geodes, will not know how good till they hit the rock saw. Wednesday was chilly. Put the boat in the water and parked the truck. Got back to the ramp and the boat floated away. Had to go swimming lol. Brrrrr cold start. That sucks! Hopefully you got warmed up quick. But a cold day on the river is MUCH better than a day at work!

Wow!! I would have played with that one! Thank You for sharing. Looks like the one we saw just outside of Zion last summer. Actually now that I look again, yours had red dots, mine had red rings.

Great trip report BTW! Looks like you both had a blast. The bad thing is she wasnāt worried about the mines structural safety. She is terrified of snakes š She would fling her body on mine to save me from stray bullets and such. But guess who she sent in that cave first š Here in the south I have only encountered a few snakes in the caves. They were all very lethargic and clearly didn't mean to be there. Either myself or another person in our party would always rescue them. I wonder if snakes in the high desert actually seek out caves and mines? A Utah BLM ranger told us that they look for cooler spots in the heat of the summer. Very different than around here.

Part 2 then Part 1 - this is like watching Star Wars! Great report. Was all that purple rock just all over like the picture or is that rocks that you piled up together? Lots of purple! Very cool. Did you go back in any of those gold mine shafts or are they pretty unstable? Again, beautiful country. Thanks for sharing with us! Those are piled up at my house but we found tons piled up off a beaten path at an old mind. The mind shaft in the first pic at Gold Hill I actually have an in-depth study on an I WAS HURTING TO GO DOWN AN EXPLORE but my sis told me no! We explored the cave extensively. There was another mine shaft along the way I didnāt take a picture of that but it looked very safe and Chris said sheād stand look out. Which meant, go on with ya ignorant self, go get snake bitten, Iāll be out here. So no exploring. I needed Ann!! fantastic5 would you have explored with me? You know it! Caves are my friends! Rotten timbers in old mines, I may question, but if it looks solid, I'm in!

fantastic5Packed and leaving shortly, do-Wed-Thurs-Fri maybe Sat. Quality Inn Lake Park, same place as before. They did a reno on the hotel, it needed it. River should be at 260 tomorrow. 45 miles away the Suwannee is ripping at 5500, go figure. They are about equal in flow, both best to collect about 100 to 200. River higher than i want, may go way down and find a big shoal I scored well at on an over night kayak trip long ago. The Suwannee drains the Okeefenokee, a big catchment, slower to drain because of it's heavy foliage. It was hit by Irma and got filled up good. It also stays warmer longer. Have a fantastic trip jamesp!!! Find the new honey hole and scope out the best overnight trip and we will do it again next year for sure!

Lol, I'm sure we all have strange places we stash rocks! I was cleaning out my old truck to sell, found small rocks stashed in almost every possible place.

I lost my wedding band two days into my honeymoon.
The first time (he is on number 4) my husband lost his wedding band was the afternoon after our wedding. We were hiking off trail in the Smokey Mountains. Found a great waterfall and went for a swim. When we got back to the car we noticed it was missing. Retraced our steps...nothing. I actually found band number 2 or 3 (can't remember which one) in a coat of mine. Honestly can't remember what we were doing that would have made him take it off (probably surgery). I haven't fessed up to finding that one. I've just put it in a safe place, I'm sure he will need it eventually .

Looking forward to your experiment! Dang soft stones and their hatred for a tumble polish. Feeling a tug from the south today. Will report back soon if the river does not call me away. At 260 and falling 30/day. Been so busy with the house, I haven't assembled my mud motor yet. Could possibly talk DH into the trip this weekend, but I'm not sure how I feel about a virgin motor/helmsmen on that river. Was really hoping for something more forgiving for the first outing.
