I don't know what it is....I bought a box of slabs off ebay so I could start my cabbing journey....some have the rock type written on them some do not....this one doesn't.....

I have been posting pics and the gracious folks on this forum have been giving me good words....I am not at all unhappy with my work , it's just amazing what can be seen with moderate magnification.....not only deffects but interesting details in the rocks themselves............

Actually I am happy with the way my stones are turning out....and I am syure that as time goes along I will get better.....it's just that I was sorta surprised at how different the cabs look under magnification as opposed to my bifocals !.......It is true that with enough magnification even the shiniest of all polished stones will have scratches and pits and all other manner of blemishes......and no I did not think that I was the first to have this grey cloud drift into my cabbing life but rather I had hoped to sound more like a stand up comedian getting a laugh from an experience that many if not all cabbers have had...........
I am curious though......at what magnification do most of you folks examine your cabs ?......

Ok....I am still quite new to this cabbing thing but I believe that I have made the worst purchase yet in the pursuit of shiny rocks ! ....So here I was all excited that in a short time I was turning out smooth shiny rocks that impressed both my family and my new found friends here on the rock forum......but then my rocks were revealed to be scratched and blemished beneath their apparent shines......I will NEVER buy another jeweler's loupe as long as I live !!.....here I was as happy as a lark with my supposedly shiny rocks but no...oh no...they are not ! they are rough craggy things only masquerading as polished cabochons !!!!.......or so the loupe tells me !!....................

I have not given it allot of thought but I figure I will do something with the rest of the rock.....problem is that since I am just beginning and have a box of several types of slabs I am eager to try all sorts .......I am somewhat directionless at the moment ...lol.....thanks everyone for the great comments.......
