I just realized when I seen fishnpinball wire wrap the ring I said was Binghamite is actually Silkstone. Sometimes found in the same rock. They both come from the same area.

Very nice, an unusual patter for that particular stone

The little eye is so cool but you know I love the feather ridge Thanks, The feather ridge looks a lot nicer in person I will try to get a better pic. The little eye was a hard one to set as the bottom is a little crooked.

I stopped at RIO the other day and they had two stacks of these for free. I put flux in one jar some sanding discs in a couple others and solder in a few more and still have a stack left. I think individually they are about an inch high and two in diameter. Just cheap plastic. But price was right. They have a terrible review. www.riogrande.com/product/stackable-2-dia-containers/635475

Boric acid which you use mixed with denatured alcohol for a coating to prevent fire scale and Borax for flux are two different things. Most fluxes are borax based mixed with other things to aid the flow of the silver solder. Here is a good discussion on the Ganoksin site that will add some insight and maybe confuse you a little more. The Ganoksin site is a valuable tool. orchid.ganoksin.com/t/boric-acid-vs-borax/20441/12

Nice work Billy! You are enormously talented and have a definite eye for the schmantzy pantsy touches haha. I should incorporate schamanzy pantzy on my business card. right now it just says BILLY

A friend of mine takes a polished agate and sandblasts the cab. You can use like in this one the lake and have a shiney Lake Superior then use the cut out and have a matt or satin Lake superior then the out side polished. Will get a pic of the reverse.
I wasn't referring to the cab texture — which is great! — but the apparent texture just inside the outer rim of the silver. Is that an illusion or a reflection of the bezel? Just wunderin'.
Thats a triangle wire I wrapped around the bezel and yes it is more satin than shiney on that side of the triangle an unexpected design feature from my hurried polishing.

Beautiful work! You are really getting all schmantzy pantsy with those bails, aren't you? They're excellent! Schmantzy Pantsy hahaha good one. I wouldn't go that far. If you look close the top and bottom larger ones don't quite line up. Thanks for the compliment.

Very nicely done! I really like the contrast between the polished outer edge and satin (?) texture on the backplate of the smaller one. At least that's what it looks like to me. Was super meeting Mr. Henry also. I'm not sure I fit into the same category of Henry HankRocks Jeremy @txrockhound. It seems every one I have dealt with on the forum has been top notch so far. His friend at the show was pretty cool, she knew her materials and am sure she appreciated your help. What a nice thing you do for your friend, now that's a bar set pretty high.

That pic of Jax is frame-able, the rocks not so much...kidding about the rocks. Looks like a productive trip. How long were you there to collect that amount. Where is Burro Creek? I have cut and acquired a few pieces and especially like the Pastelite. Looking forward to seeing the close ups.

That's really different. Can't wait to see how it polishes. The lady at the booth I bought it had a cab she had polished. It had a decent shine but not high gloss. She said the person who found the material has got a pretty good shine with Linde A, will see when I get around MN again.

Slipped down to Deming NM for a couple hrs. Pretty nice show. They sure we're proud of the local thunder eggs. Picked up a couple of chunks of material from Chile called Red and Green blanket. One lady said one person called it Jungle Camo. About 5.5 to 6 hard. She said it doesn't under cut.
