When I researched the topic, the answers came back that chrome oxide is the best to use for Jade. There were mentions of Cerium Oxide and Tin oxide but mixed reviews on how well it polishes the jade. I would like to find the chrome oxide but I am contemplating trying the cerium oxide because it seems easier to find. I find buying from the States and shipping into Canada causes a huge headache at the border with all sorts of duty charges and would rather just buy locally. so far Kingsley North is the only place I see that sells chrome oxide. And they do warn people on their site of custom and duty charges. That said, Amazon sells Cerium Oxide so I might try that.

I have been tumbling my BC Jade happily now for quite some time in my rotary tumblers and ran it through prepolish and polish. it all came out smooth and with some nice shapes but no shine. i was very disappointed when it came out with no shine at all. i did some research and found i used the wrong polish. i was using aluminum and apparently you are supposed to use chrome oxide with Jade. i have been trying to track this polish down here in Canada and am not having much luck. anyone know where i can find the right polish. i acquired a lot of jade in my recent travels and i would love to see it shining. thanks

oh my, this is in full swing now. wonderful wraps everyone! sorry I was MIA. Life was and still is busy..lol I have been tumbling some BC rhodonite that doesnt seem to want to polish up. strange looking stuff, pink and white and cream and black..not your usual pink/black. I think I will sit this one out and get involved in the next roaming wire..

we can work something out. I dont mind sending it to me collect either somehow. I dont ship much across the border so i dont know what it involves but I don't mind the cost coming to me

really? i was thinking olivine. both are found in the area. i found that rock just north of Kulane (sp) Park in the Yukon. I bet you were near Haynes Junction. Beautiful area. I love what you did with your rocks. yes I was. and yes it is a wonderful area. we are going back next year. I fell in love with the Yukon. I could move there in a heartbeat

Me too, I think it's olivine in basalt but I am not sure. Both rocks are from the same large rock. Hubby brought the sledge hammer to break it up but we could only get chips of it. Very tough!

I found all these in either northern BC and/or the Yukon. No polish on them yet. They are being pre polished now. But they rounded out wonderfully! Fantastic color I think. Still not sure what they are. My guess would be jasper of some type. Really cool!
