I've only seen Lawsonite (Blue G) in shades of blue and black --- basically blue-ish, with black dendrite markings. Yes that's what I'm finding in the Internet search lots of different shades but obviously from the same area. I'm seeing little single blue crystals in my stone that I'm not sure about here's a pic flic.kr/p/P3xJFe

Looks like a pretty interesting rock. Have you got plans for it? Will be interested to see what turns out. For ideas, try your minerals in a search engine combined with the words 'slab', 'tumbles' / 'tumblestones' Thank you! I'm going to keep this stone as is, it displays no problem I have lots of other epidote/chlorite n epidosite stones to work with flic.kr/p/Q7RCTBflic.kr/p/NTipY6

I have a friend that found this stone in Utah and thought ide like it and I do jus not sure what it is reminds me of selenite please help size of stone is 2" by 2" by 2" scratches easily with knife Selenite is Mohs 2 and will scratch with your fingernail. It can have a beautiful cats eye effect and a very nice satiny shine when when properly polished though. (Don't ask me how to polish it, I only succeeded in accidentally scratching my already polished piece.) Hey thank you that helped a lot! It does not scratch easily but my fingernail scratches it the corners scratch easier n the piece of celenite I bought from a store scratched super easily here's a pic of that flic.kr/p/Q4amd1

Hi Folks,
Had a good fossicking trip last week, I live in South West Western Australia and there is little to no information on minerals / gemstones / rocks in this part of the state. I came back with a heap of different specimens, the 2 different specimens in the link attached were taken from the same vein in a rock half way up a large hill in a pine forest.
I was hoping it was a type of quartz but with the different colour variables I'm not convinced. I have a HEAP of this stuff at home now and I would like to know what it is before I cut / tumble or whatever with it.
Quartz? Dark colours
ALSO
I took this sample from a washed out rock wall about 10m over. Im thinking quartz but Im not certain either with it (and a heap more like it) not far from the 1st sample.
Milky quartz? Clear Quartz? Quartz Quartz?
Thanks in advance for your help. Hey chilla I'm thinkin the first picture is some weird form of smokey quartz and the second picture is of quartz or clear quartz here's a pic of one of my favorite chunks of quartz flic.kr/p/PS6oG9Side View flic.kr/p/Q64CjZ
