And the saga continues. Can't wait for the cowboy to ride off into the sunset. Followed by sweet music. Best.

Hello Kai, from (now) sunny Atlanta Georgia. It sounds like you are in the thick of things mineral and fossil. This crowd will tell you everything about working with minerals and if you wish to find a group for fossils try the www.thefossilforum.com/. I belong to both and they keep me very busy. Best.

Howdy IL cowboy, and welcome to the RTH from rainy Atlanta GA. North GA is home to the world famous Georgia red flash amethyst, oodles of garnets, star rose quartz, aquamarine, beryl, tourmaline... and..... gold. That is the nutshell except for vary rare snows. We will think about you and help you as much as possible. Best.

Welcome LauriJop, from chilly Atlanta, Georgia (yes, there are more than one).
We love our tumbling rocks down here and are so glad that you came to join us.
We all just love stories and pictures.

That tile saw should be a good deal less expensive than a rock saw marketed for rocks. It's all about the blade after all. They both use the same diamond blades and water.

Wow! The rough cut is even uglier than the outside. What a transformation! The cab is stunning. I'm not so sure that I would have gone for it. Those pits and fissures look pretty discouraging. Nice work. Your patience really paid off. The finished cab has some flaws, but I didn't even consider not doing it, as it was just too amazing not to try
This item looks like the quartz I find in the creek outside of my office window. Usually just tumble but now think it's time to cab. I have so much of it. Guess I'll have to start uploading photos too.
What a stunner!

These items are priceless. I remotely visited a Chinese gem show last year and discovered that carved animal figurines are the latest up and coming collectibles. Hang on to your zoo.

Take my advice and make yours a digital microscope from Amazon. My $20 scope plugs into my laptop and delivers 40X to 1000x in high definition color. Makes viewing easier than an old eyepiece and you can hit the print button for hard copies of your favorite assemblages. Plus you can save everything to file and subfile.subfile.subfile, ad infinitum. OOOOOh, give us a live show while you are reading through RTH... at the same time. I am excited for you so best of luck.

It really does not look like dino bone. It looks like plain old (structurally) colorful chert. A nice find.
