It does look like it has silver in it like the sowbelly agate, but the beautiful amethyst cap and amount of brown banding is odd. Might be really rare material from one of the other mines along the Creede Amethyst Silver Lode. (9 miles long).

The prairie agates take a great polish. Some of them only have patterns on the outside so you are hitting the jackpot.

That last Brazilian looks like the biggest and least fractured piece of pirhana agate I have seen.

Did not like his music early on, though it was catchy. Some of the earlier stunts were not very endearing either. However he has either grown up or gotten a really good publicist (maybe both) because the last few years his image has continually improved.

What is probably the most profitable approach to asteroid mining is also the riskiest. It would involve moving an asteroid into earth orbit. A simple mistake in the move could be catastrophic. The upside being that if it was hollowed out by the mining process it could be converted to a habitat as technology progressed. The easiest to find would be nickel iron. Given modern industrial demand I would guess rare earth metals would be the best choice. The refining process produces a lot of toxic waste which are then actually easier to deal with. An asteroid containing them would probably be much more difficult to locate.

The next big steps in space will probably be driven by 2 facets of making money. Space Tourism (which will unfortunately be expensive) and mining. There was some talk about some of the real money people starting to look into asteroid mining ventures, but that chatter has gone underground. Makes me wonder if they are getting started on the project and keeping it under wraps, or have dropped it.

The whole risk adverse position of society now is a joke. Common everyday things cause more deaths than most of the things they drive themselves nuts worrying about. Then you have to wonder how people who hate the country are allowed to be in positions of authority in the government. (Including the presidency) And trying to rate any historical person by todays moral standards is going to make them look bad, the standards have changed. Some things are improvements and somethings are not.

Yes the laser reads in black and white so anything is theoretically possible... But prepping photos for engraving takes a long time. Took me 4 ish hours of work for the dog to make it good for the laser and a bit over an hour for engraving. As for cost to buy the laser like mine it costs 4k. Every 500 ish laser hours one needs to replace the CO glass tube which costs over 1k. Also polish on the agate was before engraving Thank you for the response. I was afraid it would be up around that costs, on the other hand it is relatively cheap, if business as opposed to hobby. and having a laser that can cut patterns into rock... 40 years ago that was scifi

I take it computer does most of the work. And just about anything could be input. A couple of questions. Final polish before it after. And how much did it cost if you care to share.

Nice piece of lavender lace. I do find it interesting that there are 2 dominant pattern types of the material.
