Ha good times Cliff, glad to see you again. Thanks for the help sorting and the education on those stones. Looking forward to getting back up there with a more dicerning eye. As for that pink bike I'd go for something else. When my baby girl starts crying daddy get emotional too. Thanks again for cool rocks as well. Got that crazy lace on display in the dining room.

I've been enjoying it so far. I really appreciate the inappropriate nature of some of the comments. Grin Just seen this comment Noah. You are inappropriate for sure. and a great dad and husband. Get back here to Colorado safe and maybe drag the family over here to Black Canyon for the day.If the kids haven't seen it, they'll love it. Its just outside the city limits too. My treat. MAybe take the little rabbits out fluorite hunting too over here..smile. Bet ole Rich, sometimes Dale and always wigglinrocks appreciates a weekend off too. He's been as busy as I have been. WInter comes even quicker up north. Don't forget to bring him a couple of your odd rocks and I'll put it in his next box.
Thank you. I talked to Molly and Sunday would work best for us. I've got about 45 pounds of odds and ends in a pelican case that I checked. I'll bring them all over with some other nice ones that I have at the house.

Cliff, a lot of the material I pick through is mined on the Yellowstone in Sidney and trucked to my locations. Other stuff I get by looking for a decent bank to walk down in the Sidney area. The gravel yards around here say they have trouble getting road base and smaller gravel in the Williston section of the river. Glad you posted those pics I haven't figured a solution to the pic posting deal since photo bucket decided to capitalize on me. Any feedback is much appreciated from anyone on this area. I've found Seven Sisters island area to have exposed rock and can see the sand bars but I'm still working on the boat that will get me to them. Having claimed ND as my stomping grounds for 30 years,The western section of ND does have fine agates, they are Montana's carried over from floods off the Yellowstone, feeding into the little Missouri and etc... A few prairie agate of different species, but not much.... More petwood and jasper than most other material....Especially going south of Watford City,ND (since the road construction the past five years or so),should have opened up some new ground... I'm south of Watford on county road 30 near where it ties into 16. Working for a midstream company handling a flowback. Got called in a few hours early due to some miscalculations from a young engineer in another state 😆 Not worried though I'll take the call out pay and the OT. I've been keeping my eye on the road construction and such around here and I'm mostly finding stuff on the locations where material has been trucked in. Digging through these rocks and seeing things like what you have in your video with the jasper agate and such it get a bit confusing on what to pick and what to leave. Going home to Colorado and looking at the river rock near grand junction is a bit boring. I've found some jasper and not much else so far. Lots of sand stone and shale. I suppose it's probably more of a fossil hunt there

All found in Thunder Basin Natl. Grassland, between Newcastle and Wright WY. tims you and Noah rockdunker have been finding interesting clinker lately. His is from western north Dakota. Also I am wondering if the agates you must be finding and he has been finding are similar. He has said that he is finding jaspelite too. View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentI will try to post some pictures of his material and you might give some insight. A Montana look to this one but seems really far east. Seeing any of the Montanas there? Does your prairie agates seem similar? Rich @wigglingrocks is finding similar agates but no clinker futher east in Wisconsin . The clinker in the back of the truck look like yours?

I'll get the pic sent over. Ha ha Gosh dang Noah Awesome rock.. Got a lot of stones Noah.. There is it. That thing makes a guy want to get a grinder out and start smooving out the high spots. If you ever want that thing moved, let me know I think I'd like to carry it around. I need a 160 pound jasper in my back yard so I can get some exercise.

That is cool stuff. ColoCliff sent me over here to identify the clinker that I have been picking in North Dakota. It sure does shine when polished. Do you have any pics posted? Would love to compare colors. I am not currently setup to post images. I'll pm you my email and phone number. If you would like feel free to post images.

Well if your not scared of the heat down in pueblo, they have the pueblo resivor large warm water res. Full of large mouth ,small mouth, walleye, and wicked wiper's, state record wiper caught here. A person can get hooked on smoking meats, one other thingg I like to collect is unusual home made smokers and grills have about 7 of them from a small portable smokerabout the size of a 3 gallon bucket to Bigbertha the solid steel behemoth that can fit a half a pig.my little smoker gets lots of road time probably has more miles on it then an old ford, looking forward to seeing your builds, I can't wait to get on Pueblo. I have a friend that lives over that way and fishes it a lot. As for heat I've fished FLW tournaments on Havasu in June. I have to say if there is a hotter place on earth I don't want to go there. I do most of my smoking on a regular 22.5" Weber grill with a couple pieces of foil as a heat shield. Makes amazing food.

Thanks for warm welcome, cooking and fishing tips ARH. I've been wanting to jig some HD ice lures in that 11 mile for some time now. Although I do smoke fish from time to time I try to only keep the caviar from trout and let the rest go to my neighbors. On that note since I have been working in North Dakota during the winter. It makes the concept of ice fishing seem like a bad idea. My buddy Brian owns Dynamic Lures and also loves to smoke meats. I got him started after kicking out a brisket for a party 5 years ago or so. I think he's better than I am now. When we go trout fishing it is usually with some new prototype bait that more than likely needs some tweaking to get right for the market and causes us some grief. My favorite thing to chase is Large Mouth Bass. They get me fired up when the weather is right. Topwater frogs 🐸, whopper ploppers, and just about anything from Pepper Jigs.
I suppose my rock habit is still not as bad, cause if there is a chopstick, paper clip, dental floss and some goldfish that's where you'll find me.
I've been playing on my neighbors lathe when I get time. He doesn't use it. I'll pull out some rod and pulleys soon and get some lapidary stuff built. I'm pretty sure one of these brake rotors is going to get put back to work soon.

My time got cut short. I saw a lot of agate but only took one dandy one. Lots of dendrites. With that many to pick from ya might as well get picky . Just saw the emails , some cool looking rock . Like the snail or whatever fossil . The agate seems to be so common. Seems like every rock shop has Montana agate for $5 a pound for rough and IDK for the polished chips. $8 for slabs. I think I'm more interested in the jaspers. They are a bit tougher to find and identify but I'm getting the idea of checking them. My buddy has one on the saw right now getting ready to see how it comes out. The big agates with lots of character are pretty much all I look for now. The one I got tonight is big and loaded with cool stuff.

I'll round up some sand bags and get them loaded up tonight. Unless of course I spend the night at the gravel yard sifting through truck loads of Yellowstone river rock. It's raining right now so that may very well be where I'm at. This rain can sure help my tongue heal up. Yep those bags should work. Spend the night mining rock. Might have some montana agates in there. maybe not. Make sure you write Rich and mines addreses clearly. Know that wigglinrocks would be disappointed if the rocks didn't start flowing in. Sorry about your tongue being so sore. Maybe you shouldnt go home on weekends.. mine rocks there. Send to us. As you are collecting rock, should window the rock to see if its any good inside. A chip of the corner with a rock hammer will tell you if it a good one or leverite. Save you money for sending gravel to yourself.
There is a massive load of Montana agate in those rock piles. The good ones though, they seem a bit tougher to come by. I need to get a legit rock hammer. This welders slag hammer is a bit soft for what I've been chipping.

It's dark brown, no colors like that Arizona pet wood. I do find a lot of wood up here with nice little drusy crystals in them. No real color though just white. I need to spend more time with folks that are more experienced to speed up the process. I'm not the most patient when it comes to learning about things I tend to dive in and come out the other end bruised up and scabby. Yep Know how you feel Was impatient before did me little good.he therapy and satisfaction of figuring out things is big.Lot of people accomplish little in their lives. Smart people get a lot of things done and enjoy it along the way. Those chunks you said broke apart in the suitcase.. Do you have them How big are they? ! inch or better? Can you scratch them with a knife? Like to see a picture of them. Can you email them to me or post them here? Bet Jake rocks would be able to instantly id them. Smart and good man from the Dakotas. Don't get on much because hes feeling poorly but does him as much good as it will you. Lots of people here have experience to help id thse but they need to see them. Can you start a thread asking for identification help? Dale can help you. Wigglinrocks only charges half your rocks. You're doing fine for a ginzel. grin. Cliff The end of the piece split in half about 2.5" of material. Knot is still in good shape. I need to start a new photo hosting membership since Photobucket went the way they did. I don't want to sign into that account and agree to the terms of service. I think once that happens they take all of the pics that I've been putting on forums for the past 8 years and I don't have time for that. I can get the wife to send me a pic of the broken wood I sent you and wiggly a pm for phone numbers It's a heck of a lot easier to text than to email.

Not sure if I sent a pic of that piece. I was a 8" branch with a big knot right in the middle. Very nice detailed grains. Looked like it was waiting to be whittled. Sounds like a nice piece for a specimen and not cutting material. Any color in it? Smart move Noah, sucking up to the gravel company. Good chance to collect a full set and have a chance to analyze it. Keep working on the stuff, collecting, id ing etc. The more you know the better off you'll be. Certainly some interesting stuff and a gravel pit is a good thing many times. Again be patient and keep learning about it and asking people about it. Cliff..

rockdunker Need to get some of that material to someone with some extra tumble capacity and maybe a saw to look it over. Might be nothing or might be really good. Patient now cause it takes a whle to get your material figured out. We all work and do what we can on our own time. Maybe break some and wet, take pictures. Any small ways you can keep learning what you got. If you bring some home next trip you can help me put together another tumbler and we can start rolling some. Don't give wigglinrocks all of your rocks . Half are mine.
Other half are mine . rockdunker better get more rocks . I'll figure out that mail thing this week and get some shipped home. The stuff I have at the house is about to get put in a bucket and tossed on ebay I think. My back porch and all of the furniture is covered with rocks I don't want. I have two agates at the house right now that I want to cab out but I suppose I need to mess up some other rocks first. Hard t know where to start. One of the agates, the biggest one has the white crust all over it and needs cleaned up to see inside of it. It's big enough that I don't care that much about what's in it I just want to put it on a shelf in one big polished piece. I'll bring them out to you in Montrose soon and you can pick some out for Wiggly and I'll send them his way if he wants them. This rock thing is really messing up my fishing stuff. Come winter it'll be in the way of my shooting stuff.
