It was great seeing all of you. Just like a family reunion. Thank you Tony and Chris for hosting and thank you Rodney for the yummy burgers and the fun times, you are missed but not forgotten.

I really need to stop being a POS and just make it down. Ended up getting my ass jumped on for the project that so desperately needed to be done that made me miss the show. Project still isn’t finished to no surprise. Dunno what they expected when I had No support or a project manager. Should’ve just told them to suck it and went in the first place. A Person of Stature?

Dang it! I really have to get down there one more time before I croak. I either had no money or I was booked at shows the last few years. This year I am recuperating from cancer surgery. Miss seeing you guys. Lee #1

My wife and I had a great time seeing you all again this year! It was really nice to catch up and meet some new folks! I definitely overspent on rocks this time lol, but got some great deals.
Thanks again Tony for hosting the BBQ and pressing those arbor bearings for me!
An RTH rock hounding get together this summer would definitely be fun!

If anyone got any nice plumes or jaspers, I’d like to see pics.

lparker good to hear from you on the board, the original Lee. realrockhound I got a few lil one cabbers of whiskey creek from Philip, not plume but one is pretty agatized and will see the wheels soon. He had some pretty outstanding plume bits, but I was after the WC because it's new and I didn't have any.

Had a great time at Quartzsite! Enjoyed some good conversations with Lee Rockoonz and Chris goldfinder and some great burgers! Thanks Tony catmandewe and Chris for hosting and for heating my beans in the microwave. That saved me a bunch of messing around with the camp stove. Had a great time at Burro Creek with Mark Mark K. Thanks for the guidance! I just typed a whole spiel about my adventures and there was some kind of error and I lost the whole thing. I'll come back and post some pictures and tales as I have time. The main thing is I bought very little (except gas) and came home with about 5 buckets of rocks plus a few that wouldn't fit in the buckets!

Since Walter and I could not make it back for the BBQ, we headed into the field the next morning after getting our vehicle replaced and had really good luck particularly between Baker and Barstow. Found lots of jaspers and agates. Almost screwed up though as we have to ship our rocks back to Oklahoma using cheap USPS Flat Rate boxes, and post offices of course closed or are only open a few hours on Sat morning. Since our last, and best, field day was Sat afternoon, we were resigned to having to either ship more expensive Fedex, or put a box on the plane flight as checked luggage.
In case anyone else has to fiddle with this, found out something very valuable. I asked someone in Las Vegas if they know of a post office that had that rotating drum package dropoff that is available 24 hours outside the locked part. They did, and before I could ask, they mentioned it had a self-serve services machine right by it. At 11pm on Sat night, we were in there and taping our boxes and purchasing the flat rate labels and put them in, easy! This is worth remembering. If only there was a way to search online and find out if that self-service box drop off was available at a given post office, but it doesn't seem to be a searchable feature.
To avoid this timing glitch next year, we hope to arrive the morning of the Fri BBQ day, not miss it, and then go into the field for 3-4 days. We have both got about all the rocks we need from the shows, so our main reason for going now is to see others and socialize at the BBQ and then the field collecting. We hope to return to between Barstow and Baker next year if anyone is interested in going up there with us.
