Thanks for the welcome back folks.
Sending you a PM Spike. I have one rider so far and I'll have room for 2 more if needed. So, picking you up in San Antonio wouldn't be a problem at all.

I'm riding with Dan so whenever he plans to get there and leave, that's when I plan to as well.

uh oh...I better take that hammer out and pound the heck out of some rocks then. lol... Dan!!! Howdy dude! ;D Fess up you all...what else besides a pick and hammer are needed? Anyone bringing a slabber? uh...saw? We might can bring a generator if electricity is needed. Slabs might be easier to haul is all. Hey! I'm trying to be accomodating here. lol.... I also got to thinking that it gets pretty dang cold around Alpine that time of year! hmmmmm.....

No rock hammer needed! Most of the stuff is float! Sitting there on the ground right in front of you! I don't think anyone used a hammer on the first WWR!!

I used a hammer once, Sheri. I had to dig that large chunk that was teasing me out! Tools wise, Sheri is right. You won't need heavy equipment to get nice looking pieces. I used my rock hammer once or twice to unbury things or take a whack at a few pieces to see what was inside, but that was all. Spike attacked a rock wall with his, so you might ask him what you'll need if you feel like hanging on a side of a cliff and chiseling biscuits out. Weather was perfect last year. Days were in the upper 70s, low 80s with a nice breeze. Nights dropped a bit colder - Stoner'll give you a more accurate temperature read on the nights, though. Cooler, but not downright cold. If we're at the cabin camp site en masse, then we'll have electricity. But that's only if we actually have people sleeping in the cabin. Otherwise we'll can set up all the WFs around Mailman & Silver Lass's RV...right? ;D

The Family and I are looking forward to this trip. Joi is frantically trying to pay off some bills. We will be driving from VA. Good long haul.

Sheri, just to clarify - it's $25/night per person tent camping up by the cabin, not just per tent, right?

Anyone going from Florida or Georgia that would like to drive together? I have a van and a small 4'x6' cargo trailer which we can hitch to the van or your vehicle.

WWR is down by the Big Bend . Very close to the Mexico border. ;D no t.v. now cell phone service. It's where the long horn roam, and the earth speaks to you from the sky to mother earth. I love it.

Hey Stoner - It's Woodward Ranch, actually! I must have been thinking of the Woodruff Boy Scout camp in Georgia when did that post!!! It's about 15 miles south of Alpine Texas. If you ever check out youtube, there are some videos by rockhounds there. It's in the Texas hill country and an old cattle ranch. There are still longhorns there, actually. I spent about 5 years in Del Rio Texas in the Air Force and used to explore that entire area.

Reading these posts I got nostalgic so went back and looked at all the saved pictures from the last trip. I miss you all. Though I did not show it (bottom right) I was having as much fun as Kim. There are some members that were there missing from this picture, but their images are engraved in me so it is like they are there. Spike (the other Mark)
