Hey Gang -- I think Best Western has the best deals for Delta and surrounding areas... Check this link: book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/selectHotel.do?iata=00158210In orem there is a lot of hotels where we can stay, but I think I'm hearing a lot of people are just planning to sleep closer to where the action is, I'm thinking I'm going to do the same. I'm taking my tent and cots and will be camping out for the time. We need to figure out if we want to have a wager of some kind? Ladies anyone know dessertdweller? maybe she would want to do a raffle. I'm thinking having a prize each for the following: 1) best single specimen found (everyone votes and elects winner) 2) best geode found 3) best topaz found 4) most funny rockhounder 5) best cook (thinking of food, should we start thinking of this? maybe we can take a couple of grills. Tony may need your truck to haul this puppy) 6) open for discussion I thinking we need to create another posting to show who is going...if you don't mind sending me the following: name (first, last) user name (for the RTH forum) Where from Thank you all Ozzy H.

Sorry my truck is already reserved for rocks. I do have a double burner grill that I can bring. If this is just a weekend thing, I am more inclined towards hotdogs and chili. Lets keep it simple and just hang out. I will be camping out.

The first time I left them for a rock trip..... .. but soon as I seen rocks and MORE rocks... oh it's very comforting.. and I forgot I had kids all together!.. lol jks.... *smiles* Just take lots of pics.. cuz you'll miss it when you get back home..
And Is there a water source out there? Or will everyone have to bring Jugs and containers of their own drinking water, wash water, ect... just something else you might need to mention.. Oh and the Liquor .. who's bringing the liquor.. don't need Milk.. or water with that.. LOL jks.
Oh and Ozzy... is there wild animals that can eat you alive out in them there hills? Or anything to be afraid of.. aliens.. aligators .. monsters.. you know real scarey stuff..
And I sure hope one of you guys are a McGyver type ... especially if you can't drag Jamie and Rodney out there.. I'm talking some serious stuff here.. well almost.. still.. ya never know.....

Count me in! I'll be heading out on Friday afternoon/or evening. I'll stay until Sunday evening possibly Monday. I am planning on staying out in the mountain...probably in a tent or in the back of my jeep. I am not much of a coordinator...but as far as meals go..I usually eat really lite. If tony is going to bring a grill that would be fantastic. Burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, chips, diet cokes!!!, and goodies! Not much simpler than that. I think we need to consider gas cans too. It's quite a ways from anything to buy groceries or gasoline. Need to bring some water too. I doubt there will be too many scary things out there to be frightened of. Count me in Ozzy. We really need to tyr to set up a rendevous point or at least a place where we can all meet up. Maybe on friday we could meet in Delta or somewhere and spend the night at a hotel..and kind of plan on where we all would like to go. From Topaz Mounatin the Geode Beds are at least an hour drive. What you thinking Ozzy?? Steve

Woohoooo!! I found some coordinates online, think I am gonna have to go have a look around, I just can't wait until spring!! I am headed to Las Vegas next week to pick up a saw, might have to make a couple of detours and see if it is under snow or not. I can just call it a pre-trip scouting trip.

If this is a repeat, sorry:
Do we have dates yet for this? Also, will we be looking for Dugway Geodes at all, since we are right near there?

Hi Everyone -- Dates are still open. Although I'm of the opinion that the trip need to be late march or early april to get ahead of everyone else. Last year, I went in early April and there were already people on top of Topaz mountain. Here are my target dates: March Thursday 27~ Monday 31 Or the following week April Thursday 3rd ~ April 7th What's everyone's preference? here is the local weather forecast www.wunderground.com/US/UT/Delta.htmlOzzy

Either weekend will work for me, I guess we just need to get a consensus on the most popular weekend and go with it...............Tony
