Holly smoke and fire. These last three cabs will give everyone a run for their money. Way to go guys and gal. This contest has turned into an awesome one. May have to get off my lazy butt and give it a shot. Jim

Glad to see the excitement in this contest. I just had to light a little fire to ignite the spark of creativity that lies in all of us. I am sorry if I came off a bit persistant. However the persistance paid off. Looks as if we got a couple of lurkers to come out of the darkness, and boy have they. Right into the spotlight. Great cabs everyone and what a great beginning for the dynamic duo Pietra and Romulous Jim did you get my package? I don't want to hear that you don't have mateial worthy of an entry. Here I go geting persistant again. LOL Stu

Just got a PM from unclestu. Said my hands don't look white enough more like a lobster LOL I took the picture under those big orange sho lights the kind that get so hot you can fry an egg on them? Anyway I don't want anyone to have a false impression Here are some daylight shot that I had taken the next day. I adjusted the exposure on this inside one so I don't have dish pan hands Thanks unclestu

Unclestu... you are killing me here! LOL!
I think because the contest is a month long, we should get a lot of entries this month:).

Starting to think I brought a knife to gun fight here.... Some great entries already. Might have to search for a better piece of material and re-submit later in the month but that's what the contest does it makes us try harder!

Chuck I was just thinking along the same lines as you. Yes it is a contest for the best cab but unfortunately often there is a lot of subjectivity involved in voting. Some people have a fondnessw for a certain kind of material. Then there are the situations when a person is fortunate enough to have a peice of material that in and of itself is so fantastic that the degree of craftmanship involved in cabbing it takes second stage. In fairness a cab should be judged by the degree of dificulty involved in it;s creation and the degree of perfection attained in it's completgion and than the natural beauty of the stone itself. Just my thoughts Stu

Wow guys!
Romulous, Kurt and Pietra.... SUPER cabs!
I gotta get my act back and get posting again..... I've been deliberating on finishing all the ones that I've started but never finished over the last few months, but then again..... I've got all this cool new material that is just begging me to start! What a dilemma...... glad I've got til the end of this month, not sure if I can compete with what's posted already but Love this comp!!!

Ahh you are always the competition par excellence Krystee. Your workmanship is always something for us to aspire to.
Question: is a donought shape a cab? If yes, I would like to try something along such a line.

To me it is twin volcanoes with smoke and lava flows but either way it is gorgeous. Don't get pushy Stu. I just cut some new local material that will kick your butt any day of the week. On a lighter note, if you want to have it all about skill and not stone you will have to issue the same stone to everyone. The stone that knocks your eyeballs out is going to win as long as it is done reasonably well. I think that I would have a hard time trying to judge this on a purely skill level and would have to go with a combination of the two. Neither one is going to win without the other. Just my five cents worth (with inflation). lol Jim
