Oh I forgot Don you are right about the 1st picture of the slab being taken with a different camera. I would never take my Nikon into the man cave with my hands all full of rock snot. I used a point and shoot for that picture. As far as apologies I think this has escalated beyond an apology.

Alright, just got in from work. The trouble maker was warned before by the administration to KEEP THESE KINDS OF POSTS IN PRIVATE PMS.She has been a trouble maker from the time she joined.Another display of total disregard for fellow members and the administration. She has left the administrators no choice but to ban her if they want to maintain the integrity of this site.PM me if you want a saltier version of how I REALLY FEEL!!

Stu! You're out of cab prison! Whew! I haven't been here long enough to know what was going on, but I swear I looked and looked and looked at that picture and could not find any evidence of abnormal tampering (no cloning, for example - as I believe you were accused) and I thought either you are DAMN good with photoshop (you made your cab look just like the rock it came from - oh snap!) or there is something else going on. Glad to hear it was the something else, lol... Sorry you had to suffer that but on the bright side you have been vindicated many times over by everybody except 'something else' and the accusations were so wild that honestly, it's laughable (so c'mon Stu - laugh it off, breath man - laugh!). Anyway, I'm glad I don't have to send you any rough with a file in it or anything

I like these contests! Please continue them. I learn something useful each time, and I see beautiful work.
Someday I am going to enter. So far, I've started on good size cabs, and they end up fingernail size! Practice, practice, practice! Good thing I like doing it. I'll get there.... I'm on my way...

Guess I missed a bunch....... I'm glad! Roy and Stu..... FANTASTIC cabs! I'm cringing and a little sick to my stomach right now. I've got some bomb material from Indonesia, most beautiful chalcedony and my saw is broken I'm getting a new (used) one and if it's running by the end of the month then watch out. I'll try REALLY REALLY hard to compete with the two awesome cabs already shown! There is nothing quite like good quality lab!!! Carleton, YOU ROCK and your website is amazing!!!

The Rest of that slab is actually a very rich red that transitions to a royal purple, but I cant seem to get that color to photograph very well (if you look you can see the oval I originally cut for the contest) I agree, I am normally drawn to shields and harder shapes, but thought I would try to expand a bit. Don,
Please continue with the monthly RTH contest. It is encouraging me to practice so I can make something good enough to enter. Don't let grumpy people spoil the fun for the rest of us.
Thanks

Don, I just want to say, as so many have done so already, please do not stop the contest. This contest is to meaningful for to many members to allow one bad apple to be able to spoil it for the bunch.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the countless number of members who have sent me PM's expressing their support and I also want to thank all of you who posted to this thread in my defense in light of yesterdays unprovoked and slanderous attack. Your actions reaffirmed that in many ways we are a family and I truely love you all. Today I looked at the cab that I entered and discovered that areas of the cab which were brought under quesstion were not an effect of my lighting but are infact charaactoristics of the cab itself. Areas of the slab that were orange actually did become black when the slab wass cabbed. I guess as a result of the grinding. I decided not to post the picture that I took with the cab in my hand as I feel to do so would give credability to those slanderous accusations that were made. However if anyone would like to see the picture please send me a pm.
Don hang in there buddy. You are to good a man to allow the actions of a person like Helen get you down. Stu

Hey, I love looking at these contest entries and am truly impressed with the quality of craftsmanship and the beauty of the materials you guys choose to work. Please keep the contest going as this is my chance to cab vicariously. If I ever get over my current horse craze ( tried out a new four year old this morning *L*) maybe I'll even get me a cab or two cut *L*.....Mel

Ok, here we go This must be pretty much the strangest material I have had the fun playing with to-date. Tube Agate rough Makes two cabs It’s pretty much the first time that I wish I would have a flat-lap. Its hell when sanding this material with paper by hand. But in the end, it turned out quite alright. Close up And being just plainly a showoff Thanks for looking, have a great week,...... Kurt
