Wow Kurt a true freeform and a very nice one also the other cabs are also fantastic almost to the point of me shelving my entry but you can't have a contest without entries so here's mine. I can't tell you much about the material except that it is really hard and cost me 50c, it was put aside by an old friend at a gem show for me, so it will be Aussie but not sure what or where. Back front shine Thanks for looking. Bill

I like it! Glad you retained the red road through it.
I also like your signature quote: "You may say that rocks areea matter of life or death, but I think that it's much more serious than that."

Here's my entry, it's Stone Canyon Jasper done in a style of cab that I've been working where dome grinding paths cross to create patterns. This is one of the best outcomes I've yet had, I hope you enjoy it much as I had fun making it! 1) SLAB 2) PREFORM 4) FINISHED - FRONT 5) FINISHED - BACK 6) FINISHED - ALTERNATE VIEW Thanks for looking!

Bill, glad you entered. It's much more fun with a lot more entries and makes it harder for people to deceide what they really like. Besides that, you got nice strong colors and super workmanship to booth.

Hi Frank, I really like the material that you chose but what I really like is what you have done with it. Do you think you can post a profile picture as I am not sure if your grinding paths are ending into a flat center section or a domed center section. I think it would look great either way. Stu

Stu Hi Stu, thank you - yes this material was very nice to work with - I'll have to get more of it but I'll be looking for material like this - sort of oddball coloring (usually this material presents as yellow patches - like that seen in the lower left of the slab I cut it from). It's domed but the curve gets very shallow near the top. Here's the profile you requested: I probably would do more flats but they're not as easy on a flat lap as one might think - takes a long time for each side and can be very taxing on the motor as you have to apply reasonable pressure to force your way through the hydroplaning effect across a flat area. So for now I stick to curves and rock 'em or rotate 'em.
